Luxe downtown sleep near Chicago's main attractions with three restaurants and a spa

The Lowdown

Close to the Magnificent Mile and the north end of Millennium Park, this Loop area hotel is a swank sleep with almost 700 guestrooms, an 11,000-square-foot spa and an exclusive 15th-floor concierge level. The guestrooms feature contemporary floral artwork and muted gray and beige linens, and come stocked with mod cons including Le Labo bath amenities, rainfall shower heads and Nespresso coffee makers. Three on-site restaurants make it easy to hole up during chilly Chicago winters: locally focused Aria won a 2013 Wine Spectator award; Eno pairs wine with cheese and chocolate; and the Aria bar serves up light lunches, sushi and cocktails daily.

In the Area

The hotel puts you within spitting distance of Chicago’s most iconic attractions. Take a funhouse-like photo of the skyline in front of the Bean, walk north on Michigan Avenue over the river for Magnificent Mile shopping, or hoof it to the John Hancock Center to see the city from up high (skip the organized tour and opt for a cocktail in the 956h-floor Signature Lounge). Sampling the city’s signature treats is a breeze, too— Giordano’s Pizza, famed for its stuffed crust pizza, is on the north end of the park; the original Garrett’s Popcorn shop still doles out its Garrett Mix (CaramelCrips coupled with CheeseCorn flavors); and nearby Portillo’s dishes out hot dogs and juicy Italian beef sandwiches.

The Rouge Room at the Fairmont is old school elegant and beautiful. The cocktails were delicious and the bartenders friendly. The food choices were extensive, very well displayed and easy to serve oneself. Plenty of staff to clear away empty plates etc so no messy tables!

Just lovely

Traveling to attend a business conference and this hotel was a wonderful place to relax after working all day. I travel often and am particular with service and cleanliness. Fairmont Chicago exceeded my expectations. From the time I checked in...to the Gold lounge service...to checkout, all were 5 star. I recommend the Gold lounge. It hit the spot at breakfast and snacks/drinks for happy hour. The views are also beautiful from the 15th floor. Kudos to the maid service...where they have a turndown night service. It was lovely to come back at night with my room radio playing a relaxing tune and the bed all fluffed. I will definitely stay at this hotel when traveling in Chicago.

A treat to be on the Gold floor!

It was great to be back in Chicago, and to be staying at the Fairmont Millenium Park again! And this time, without the entire Junior United Nations in town (see my review from December 2011)...

A friend of mine, who is a "Fairmont regular", suggested that I ask on check in, if it would be possible to buy an upgrade to the Gold floor. And it was! I had a very large room at the end of the hallway (1507), well away from the elevators. The decor hasn't changed since my last visit, and everything was where it was supposed to be, including the Rose 31 products in the bathroom and the oh-so-comfortable Fairmont pillows and bedding! And of course, I was also able to enjoy the comfort and quiet of the Lounge. The staff there, in particular MuGi and Mandana, made my morning breakfast and afternoon pre-dinner visits so pleasant. I really enjoyed the selection and quality of the breakfasts and snacks (really excellent), and the kind attention paid by the staff. Thank you! It was a treat, for sure!

The only criticism of my stay is that the Lounge closes much too early; at 9 pm. Usually, I was coming back from dinner around then, and it would have been nice to stop in for a night-cap. Even if the Lounge could stay open until 10 pm, that would be a big improvement! On Sunday evening during my stay, even the lobby bar was closed at 9, which left only the Pub (and the Old Fashioned I ordered was not particularly memorable...).

Thank you again for a memorable stay and great visit to Chicago!

The hotel was beautiful. We had no problems. the location is great. I cant wait to stay again. Parking is kind of a drag bc there's only valet. But its to be expected in chicago. Take cabs if you can.

From the reservations specialist, to the housekeeper, everyone was friendly & accommodating. Gold upgrade is the way to go! Although we didn't take advantage of them, the gold perks were amazing! Our room was very clean & the bed was extremely comfortable! The gold lounge was the perfect extra to our trip! Location is also the best here - just a short walk to Mellenium Park & Navy Pier.
