Close to the Magnificent Mile and the north end of Millennium Park, this Loop area hotel is a swank sleep with almost 700 guestrooms, an 11,000-square-foot spa and an exclusive 15th-floor concierge level. The guestrooms feature contemporary floral artwork and muted gray and beige linens, and come stocked with mod cons including Le Labo bath amenities, rainfall shower heads and Nespresso coffee makers. Three on-site restaurants make it easy to hole up during chilly Chicago winters: locally focused Aria won a 2013 Wine Spectator award; Eno pairs wine with cheese and chocolate; and the Aria bar serves up light lunches, sushi and cocktails daily.
In the Area
The hotel puts you within spitting distance of Chicago’s most iconic attractions. Take a funhouse-like photo of the skyline in front of the Bean, walk north on Michigan Avenue over the river for Magnificent Mile shopping, or hoof it to the John Hancock Center to see the city from up high (skip the organized tour and opt for a cocktail in the 956h-floor Signature Lounge). Sampling the city’s signature treats is a breeze, too— Giordano’s Pizza, famed for its stuffed crust pizza, is on the north end of the park; the original Garrett’s Popcorn shop still doles out its Garrett Mix (CaramelCrips coupled with CheeseCorn flavors); and nearby Portillo’s dishes out hot dogs and juicy Italian beef sandwiches.
How to Get There
Stayed here for a quick weekend get away with a few friends and let me just say we were impressed. I would most certainly recommend the Gold Floor as the hospitality was wonderful and all the workers were so personable. Check in was a breeze and it was quite apparent how all the employees went above and beyond to make sure all guests are well taken care of!
I don’t write reviews often, but I’m happy to write one about Fairmont! The rooms were spacious and comfortable, the staff was wonderful, the food was delicious, and the Gold Lounge was an absolute treat! Also, if you ever need any assistance, the Gold Lounge staff was exceptionally helpful; they really went the extra mile!
My friends and I had the pleasure of staying at the Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park-- Gold Level, for a couple days in early March as a spring break getaway. I had never stayed at a Fairmont, nor experienced a room upgrade like the Gold Lounge, but it is safe to say that I will be a returning customer. We were blown away by the intricate details the hotel and staff had put in to make our trip a truly memorable experience. From our luxurious and spacious three room suite (which featured sweeping city views), to the handwritten note inside our room as we arrived, our stay was brilliant. One of our favorite parts about the Gold Lounge was its bountiful breakfast buffets (the bagels and lox were delicious!) and its evening dessert treats. The complimentary latte/espresso machine+bar were incredibly convenient, and we all consumed far too much caffeine during our stay :)
The staff on the Gold Lounge were all fantastic, and seemed to genuinely care about making sure we experienced the best of what Chicago has to offer. A special shout out to Cody, who gave us great recommendations of local dining spots and also helped us by navigating our walking and bus routes-- we really appreciated it, and saved a lot of time with your help!
Our stay was nothing short of perfection. Truly a first-class experience. Looking forward to returning soon!
This hotel is like an oasis in the area. Away from the busy streets and excitement of chicago, a quiet hotel to hide away in and enjoy some quiet and a chance to rest and recover. The bar also was well stocked and enjoyable.
My recent stay at this hotel in downtown Chicago was amazing. Check in was very easy and I didn’t arrive until 10 pm. Very welcoming. I had asked for a floor higher up and they accommodated that and placed me on the 30th floor. The room was beautiful. Very large room, king sized bed was comfortable. Small couch in the room too. The washroom was also spacious, beautiful shower separate from the bath tub. Lots of room on shelf for items inside and outside the bathroom.
This room also had a safe which was perfect. Concierge was very helpful. House keeping was polite prompt and did a very good job.
I wouldn’t bother going to the restaurant in the hotel Columbus Tap. The woman who waited on us seemed furious we wanted to order off the menu and not get the buffet. No coffee refill, never once came back to our table. Very rude and this place took 10 minutes to be seated with tons of staff standing around and not very busy inside.
Perfect location for this hotel! Great pizza place down the street, lots of places for breakfast nearby and close to the water and Navy Pier. I would definitely recommended.
