How to Get There
I was surprised to find this like hotel nestled between two much larger and well-known chains. But from the moment I walked in I was pleasantly surprised. The front desk staff were courteous, knowledgeable about the area, and very friendly. It was 5:30pm when I checked in and found that they served complimentary wine in the lobby from 5-6pm. My room was quite spacious, with an exceedingly comfortable king size bed and a view of the river. I was able to walk to Millennium Park and the downtown shopping area, numerous restaurants, and I ran along the waterfront to the museums just a few miles away. For those wondering, there is also a gym in the building. If I return to Chicago I intend to stay there again.
My husband and I recently spent two nights at Club Quarters. A friend had recommended the hotel as it was easy access and close to Michigan Avenue. Upon arrival we asked about the availability of the bar and restaurant only to be told that these were under construction and that if we wanted food service or drinks we were welcome to go next door to the Land and Lake restaurant and they would accommodate us. Note: it’s December and the temperature is in the 20s. We found out that the restaurant had been under construction since October, yet no one thought to add this information to the website. Arriving in the room we found the room to be SMALL, VERY SMALL. Be prepared for minimal space to move around and store your luggage. Bath linens were sparse. We found the hotel staff to be less than helpful and a few were even argumentative. Our second day was spent enjoying Chicago’s many holiday activities, therefore we were more than shocked to find that when we returned at almost 4 pm our room had not been made up or cleaned. Calling Housekeeping to report this, we were told that they worked until 5. It would seem that our being out of the room for over 6 hours would have provided plenty of opportunity to freshen the room. One of the housekeepers finally brought us fresh towels and emptied the trash. Since we had a late flight on the third day, we thought we would ask for a late check out. We were told there would be an additional charge of $25. We have NEVER been charged for a late check out. Strike 3. While our friend was indeed correct that the location was great, there wasn’t much else we could recommend. Spend a little more and stay somewhere else.
The absolute WOSRT hotel. Room 912 has bed bugs. The rooms are dirt small. The tv’s never work properly. Elevator 5 gets stuck constantly. This is NOT a full service hotel, the in house restaurant is closed and they haven’t found a new one to replace it. You HAVE to pay for room service if you wanna eat in the hotel, or have to LEAVE the hotel to go next door to the hotel that’s doing there room service.
The hotel is ideally located for anything in downtown Chicago: close to public transportation, within easy walking distance of the Loop, the Magnificent Mile, River North, the Art Institute and Millennium Park. Room prices are moderate, especially considering the location. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Rooms are small, but nicely furnished, with a very comfortable bed, good WiFi, a large screen TV, and small but very well-maintained and comfortable bathroom. Closet and storage space is modest, so if you are traveling with a lot of stuff, this might not be ideal for you. There aren't a lot of fancy amenities either, although there is a business center with computers and printers, for (for instance) printing out a boarding pass. But if you are either a business traveler or tourist, looking for a clean, well-furnished, well-staffed discount hotel, this one is ideal.
We had a great experience at the CQ hotel. The location in the loop and by the river is the clear draw for this property. You are right in the middle of everything with close access to the blue line train that goes to O'Hare as well as everything else in downtown Chicago. The hotel staff were helpful and accommodating. The rooms were nothing luxurious; but they were clean and the perfect place to relax at night. The amenities were also a nice plus. There is free coffee and an espresso machine, as well as free beverages and snacks available. Recommend and would stay here again!
