Opened in March 2015 following a major revamp, this fancy five-star property in the upscale 8th Arrondissement occupies traditional townhouses dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. With designer Didier Gomez at the helm, the interiors bring together original features and a fashion-savvy aesthetic. The high ceilings and intricate plaster moldings in the guestrooms are enhanced by modern amenities like Bose sound systems, iPod docks and well-stocked minibars. The suites are suitably swank, with separate drawing rooms, walk-in closets and espresso machines; the bathrooms feature hammam-style showers, hydrotherapy bathtubs and Hermès toiletries. At the hip Bar du Faubourg, sip cocktails inspired by fashion icons like Jean Paul Gaultier, Coco Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent. Then pop next door to Stay for global-themed cuisine prepared by Michelin-starred chef Yannick Alléno. Round off your stay with a muscle-loosening massage (on request) at the fitness center; the expert therapists use a wide range of Cinq Mondes beauty products.
In the Area
Perfectly placed in the heart of the chic 8th Arrondissement, the hotel is perfect for shopaholics and culture vultures. Designer boutiques including Prada, Givenchy and Paul Smith line Rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré. This famous street is also home to the presidential residence, the Elysée Palace, as well as numerous embassies and art galleries. The fabulous art exhibitions at the Louvre and the Grand Palais are within walking distance. Make sure you fit in a visit to the monumental Madeleine church, which has an imposing neoclassical façade dating from the 18th century and hosts a wonderful (and often free) program of classical music concerts.
How to Get There
Hotel is in a wonderful location. Walking distance to many of the tourist sights. Staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. Room was beautiful and the bathroom was huge. Highly recommend. Can’t wait to return to this Sofitel in Paris!
My wife and i stayed there recently, Oct 5-9. Beautiful room, espresso machine, closets, drawers, counter space in bathroom. Queen sized deluxe room. 2 windows with shutters. The room was completely shut off from outside noise. The hotel is situated on a block that is closed from traffic, with the exception of vehicles going to the hotel, because it is also the location of the US Embassy. The hotel location is extremely central to attractions, and is a 10 minute walk to the Louvre. Breakfast included with the room rate was wonderful. Finally, and this cannot be overstated enough, the staff were wonderful. The concierge could not have been more helpful and the staff from the restaurant to the front door were fantastic. Rooms were serviced twice a day (unless you want otherwise). All the staff spoke English.
I cannot recommend this hotel enough. Our experience was wonderful. Thank you to the staff. You are a great team.
We stayed at this hotel for a late honeymoon in Paris at the end of September 2018, and were actually upgraded to a suite. It’s a wonderful location on a side street off Rue Saint Honore...with Hermes flagship on the corner, Gucci down the block, and Chanel a few blocks down the street. The US embassy is down the street from the hotel, so there are armed guards on either side of the street, so we felt very safe. Also, there are 2 subway stops nearby...Madeleine and Concorde where we were easily able to get to everywhere in Paris for €1.75 per trip/person.
Customer Service at the hotel was fabulous, and the hotel suite itself was what you would expect from a 5 star hotel.
We actually didn’t eat at the hotel since there are much better options in the area such as Farnesina, an Italian restaurant a few doors down (reservations nec). We did have hotel brunch before we checked out, which was overpriced. Croissants were soft and soggy...we actually had to go a few blocks down to get decent croissants...beware bakeries run out of croissants early in the morning.
While we splurged on our hotel room, unfortunately my wife loves the hotel...haha. So it appears we can’t stay anywhere else in Paris!
While the service at the Sofitel Faubourg is lovely, and what you would expect from a 5 star property, I can not imagine staying here for more than one night.
We were upgraded to a "luxury" category room. The room was so small, we could not open 2 suitcases and use the desk or console because our luggage had to be set on top.
The lighting in the room was downright annoying! It took us 10 minutes each time we wanted to turn on a light...it became a comedy. One switch works many, and you need your room key to operate the electric in the room...which no one mentioned at the front desk......
Location is excellent, on a quiet street, closed off to car traffic, and close enough to the Crillon to have drinks and to walk anywhere in the 1st, 7th or 6th arrondissement and the best shopping in the 8th.
Sleep quality was great, as was the air conditioning the room. Bathroom is a nice size, but no hair conditioner in the amenities, and again, the lighting was connected to me using the hairdryer, so I had to turn on the main lighting system to operate the blowdryer.
For $750. US, we could've done better in a boutique hotel with a breakfast and larger room, but our flight was canceled, and they were the only hotel that weekend that had availability.
My favorite part of the room was the gorgeous bouquet of fresh flowers.....a nice touch!
If you like a chain hotel (we like Sofitel for the most part), and you want a nice hotel bar and concierge, then this hotel would be a good choice. Perhaps you can secure a larger room.
Been staying ast this Hotel 3 times for 5 nights each time. At that price You would expect as returning Customer that its better n better service. But its not. This time they even managed to take out the good Nescafe capsules for some cheap stuff!! When you charge 700E per night for 25 sqm. and tries to make and extra 2E on the cafe. That nailed for me. NEVER AGAIN their are several good places to stay next time
