How to Get There
We stayed three nights in June '19 at the Renaissance Paris Vendome Hotel. We had selected their largest, and most expensive, room -- the Parisian Corner King Suite. Booking and arrival was very welcoming and smooth, with a bottle champagne awaiting us. The valet service for our rental car worked flawlessly. With a bit of advance notice, we never had any difficulty having out car ready when we needed it.
The room itself, #307, was spacious, though modest in size compared with many other cities we have stayed in. Having said this, it was a great location, with the corner view, large glass doors opening up to Juliet balconies. The room had an interesting decor, modern, more adult themed, very much in keeping with the rest of the decor in the hotel.
The bathroom was small, and the shower temperature was very difficult to regulate. With the typical french set-up of a WC separate from the rest of the bathroom, it cut up the existing space quite a bit and despite only a single sink, two people can easily feel cramped in the bathroom.
We were never quite sure who was making what part of the room when. During one day, we counted at least four different people making our room, including replacing the sheet at 8:00 p.m. in the evening. Coffee wasn't always replaced, and a repair we had request on the shower never arrived. The hotel does have some issues with regard to coordinating the various service functions. Everyone is very nice, but that doesn't mean it gets done.
As for the rest of the hotel, it has a much underused spa and pool. We actually used it several times. It is in the basement and can only be accessed from one of the two elevators (something that took us a while to figure out, and several other guests we asked directed us to the 3rd, 4th, and 6th floor. We only found it when asking some of the cleaning staff.) Once at the Spa, it is a serene and well designed pool. The work-out area is small, but for couples seeking a retreat from the busy streets it can be a nice oasis. Don't discount it.
The restaurant is excellent, reasonably priced, and very busy! Bookings for the evening are highly recommended. The bar is small, but has an interesting array of drinks and a nice atmosphere. We didn't spend much time in either as there are so many other options around.
The Concierge desk was very helpful. Pointing out restaurants, organizing the valet parking, and having a host of useful information.
Overall, the room was probably a bit over-prized, but the hotel is in a perfect location that can't be beat. Staff are friendly, management tries, but still needs to get more organized, and in the end, we thoroughly enjoyed out stay.
The location was within walking distance of Metro and the Louvre and high end shopping. The staff was courteous and helpful, providing us with excellent suggestions for nearby dining. The interior is more contemporary but very nice and I loved the scented soaps and lotions. Restaurant Balagan was excellent and we arrived to find wine and cookies from Balagan to greet us with a lovely, handwritten note welcoming us and wishes for our 50th anniversary. I would definitely book this again. The only unsettling item was the photograph on the ceiling over the bed.
Location is ideal. Walk to Louve, close to metro and if you are into high end shopping look no further. However in Paris, due to the metro, location isnt as important as other places and shouldnt be the number one criteria when booking a hotel here.
There is no executive lounge here but I am not sure if any exist anywhere in Paris for Marriott members or other hotel chains either so please someone leave me a message if you know of one as I have become a fan of them.
Front desk/Concierge were exceptional. They managed to get on my mobile phone and change my Thalys train booking to Brussels only 1 hour before I was due to depart as the online function wasn't working. At the same time allowing me a late checkout was appreciated too.
We spent a week here on our trip through France. The location of the hotel is close to all the very best shopping in Paris, yet is it well off the path of most travelers. The interior is very clean and modern and would make anyone very comfortable. The staff all speaks perfect english and we had several instances where they were more than helpful. The rooms are not large, but the are very nice size for a location in Paris such as this. Very typical of a smaller hotel in a super prime area. You are only two blocks from the metro stop and can get anywhere in a hurry.
The restaurant is very good and the morning breakfast is nothing short of wonderful. Again the staff here could not have been better.
Our only problem was when they held our luggage the last day someone smashed a poster we bought at the French Open that we were going to frame. Franca, the evening supervisor on staff, let us know they would take care of it. Two days later i had confirmation that they bough us another poster and were shipping it to our home in the US. That is service and follow through.
We can't thank them enough for our stay and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a hidden gem!
The staff was most helpful here and made accomodations for us when we had to change rooms - our fault. The location is just a short walk to the Louvre.
The rooms are clean and upgraded from when we stayed there many years ago.
This was our second stay at this property and we will stay here again.
