Great Hotel lousy service

I recently went to watch how to be a Parisian in an hour. This typifies this hotel as they just cannot get room service right.

First morning they missed 3 items off the order, by the time they got them back to us (22 minutes) the rest of the breakfast was cold, so we eat what we could.

The Guest Services Supervisor (Mary) asked what I need to fix it, which is unbelievable as they are the ones that should be saying how they will fix it. As a nice touch we got a small bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries in the evening which made us forget the issue...

Next morning, breakfast is ordered, when delivered it is delivered on a tray with nowhere to put the tray, but the floor. I felt sorry for the girl who was given this task to deliver as the hotel doesn’t know it’s rooms.
Asking for a trolley to eat breakfast meant that the breakfast would again be cold so, he we go again.
To add to the disappointment they ran out of orange marmalade (specific request as it was delightful the day before to eat cold toast). The guest services manager (Guillaume) called and said it will be corrected. Approx 25 minutes after the initial mistake we got the breakfast on a trolley with Guillaume delivering along with the lovely girl.

All is OK, but for the second day no plates to butter the toast but I guess that also is to much to ask for a four star hotel.

The management just don’t care as they only work weekdays and the issues guest have are not known to management and thus not fixed.

I wish Marriott cared enough to publish an area on the website so complaints could be shared, and maybe problems are fixed or exposing the fact management see they are far to important to work weekends.

I am only a Gold Bonvoy member but if this continues I will have no status and they have lost another customer. Marriott management should go to see ‘How to be a Parisian on one hour’ as this is so apt...

Some problems

While it's really close to the heart of Paris, there are some things about this hotel that really grate on me. My room was very good, with a bay window, and the usual amenities of supposedly a top notch hotel. The downside of my room was that if I used the loo and flushed it, the flush lasted forever and kept me awake at night, although I did say to one of my colleagues it sounded like a waterfull and wasn't particularly eco-friendly. One criticism I'd make, but this applies to very many hotels I've visited, is that if you are trying to work using a PC and a "pointing device", the mice don't work on glass surfaces. Also, it took a while before you could figure out where to charge stuff. I discovered it. The staff were extremely friendly, apart from one barman who was decidedly snotty. I was so taken by surprise that I didn't have a riposte until I thought of one the morning after. The rather expensive breakfast leaves much to be desired, although, again, the service was extremely efficient. It's not often I write negative reviews about hotels, but I think my score of "average" is quite generous, really.

If you are looking for a fabulous hotel with amazing and caring staff, please look no further than Renaissance Paris Arc de Triomphe Hotel. This boutique hotel is stunning, clean, and the Marriott family there is extremely warm and friendly. They went above and beyond for my husband and me. Marie Le Roux, Tiago, and Rachida took the time to listen about what we were looking for regarding our experience and followed through with flying colors. Our room was upgraded, the food was fresh and delicious, and we had a fun and romantic Parisian experience. I loved this hotel and staff so much that I will be returning this summer.

I recommend very highly, and I have stayed at many hotels around the world.
