This contemporary property in the French capital’s business district was revamped in 2013 by Brazilian designer Marcelo Joulia. With an eye for cool and unusual light fittings, he updated the common areas with whimsical touches including blood-red corridors and bubbly light columns in the lobby and the bar.
Bed and Bath
Restyled by Christophe Pillet, the 382 guestrooms are simple and sophisticated. Soothing dove-grays mix nicely with dark woods and bright colors (red leather sofas, mustard-yellow chairs). The beds are flanked by Philippe Starck–inspired lamps, and the plush perks include Bose sound systems, large flat-screen TVs and Bigelow toiletries.
At Quinte & Sens, chef Jean Paul Corbillet is in charge of the open kitchen and serves dishes cooked five ways (grill, plancha, wok, rotisserie and tandoori). Pair yours with a glass of wine from the Vinoteca, a cylindrical contraption that dispenses top-notch wines by the glass. With a live DJ and a happy hour on Thursdays, the bar can get lively. There’s also a corner café, a library with a connectivity lounge, and a small gym with cardio equipment and a steam room.
In the Area
La Defense is a busy downtown district, but it’s also a retail hub, with the Les 4 Temps mall and the CNIT convention and shopping centers holding more than 250 shops and a 16-screen cinema. Architecture fans will also appreciate the Grande Arche, which has become a Paris landmark, and Tour First, which at 757 feet is the tallest skyscraper in France.
How to Get There
I always stay at Pullman La defense because of work. I'm a flight attendant for Lufthansa. I would like to give my compliments to Clarisse and her staff at the buffet, they were very nice with our crew..
We arrived late at night and received a very warm welcome from the front desk.
Our “superior” room was spacious with a comfortable bed and lots of storage space. We appreciated the large television and excellent WiFi.
We took breakfast every day and the welcome by the team was very warm. The breakfast buffet itself is large with a good selection of quality produce from around the world. The large and freshly baked madeleines that appeared on Tuesday morning were a thing of beauty. Too bad that they never made a return.
A special mention for Clarisse in the restaurant, who welcomed us each morning with a big smile, was very attentive and took the time to ensure that our stay here was pleasant. Too bad she wasn’t there for our last day... maybe next time.
Housekeeping was inconsistent and needs some improvement: some days it was fine but on other days less so: surfaces not wiped down, didn’t pass with the vacuum, dust on surfaces. Worst of all, upon our arrival it was clear that the toilet had not been well cleaned and disinfected.
the hotel is excellent, very close the business and attraction area, the food is good, the rooms are clean and stay is the pleasure
the hotel near the public transport and shopping mall
special thanks to Rachida in the restaurant for the superb service
