How to Get There
He was eficient, super friendly and helped me with all my questions. I was tired coming from a long distance flight that got delayed and to have this type of reception and service amid all the problems of the trip, just made my day
This hotel fits the “boutique” experience. It’s rather small, especially when you walk in. The majority of the staff were pleasant and helpful. Up one flight of stairs is the elevator, a lounge, and breakfast room. We did not opt for breakfast during our stay, but did enjoy the available coffee/tea/water throughout the day.
Our room was small, as expected. There was too much furniture for such a tight space it left no room for 2 suitcases. One had to be left behind the entry door. The shower was spacious, but the rest of the bathroom was tiny.
The biggest disappointment was that there was no air conditioning in our room. The days were unseasonably warm. When we notified the staff we were told that they switched their system to heat, and once it’s switched to heat you cannot run the A/C. While in our room, we always had to keep the window open to help cool the room with the breeze. The street noise was quite loud at all hours, so we weren’t able to sleep with the window open. It made for an uncomfortable stay.
If I were to return again, I would not want to stay at this hotel, I’d picked a different area. It was convenient to the train station, but that also came with having many lurking, sometimes shady looking characters outside. At night, I did not feel safe walking alone as there were many people hanging out near the square nearby.
Hotel Phileas is a small hotel within close proximity to Lisar train station. The staff at reception were second to none..! They were extremely kind and helpful and went out of their way to ensure we had a great stay. Rooms are small but are well finished. They are clean and modern.
Only slight downside was breakfast, limited options, and small area in which to eat.
Well located - right next to Gare sant Lazare - very clean and comfortable. Very well priced given location. Rooms are compact but very nice. Very pleased with stay would remember if going back to Paris!!
Paris hotels 4* or otherwise can be a bit hit and miss, so when we saw the front of the hotel was just a doorway between 2 buildings, my heart sank just a little. I needn't have worried - from the moment we walked through the door I knew we had made the right choice. Just a minute's walk from Saint Lazare station for the Metro and Versailles and less than half an hour's walk from Gard Du Nord, the hotel is well placed for getting around. The staff were super helpful and friendly and even suggested we leave our bags in our room on the last day, so they could take it to the luggage storage room for us to pick up that evening before heading home.
The whole place was really clean, the room well decorated and not bland as some can be. We had a triple room with proper beds and a nice big shower with mood lighting. There was as much bottled water as we needed, as well as a little coffee maker and tea, although we tended to go to the breakfast room where there was a great machine that did delicious hot chocolate along with coffee and tea; best of all there were homemade cakes and biscuits! I hadn't realised breakfast was included and whilst the room is a little small, the pastries, meats and cheeses were yummy.
I have stayed in lots of hotels and rarely taken the time to review them, but this hotel deserved the effort. I'll definitely stay again when I'm back in Paris.
