How to Get There
I am a platinum member with Marriot, and stay at hotels around 50 days a year. But this is the first time for me staying at this property. The overall experience is quite pleasant.
The hotel is located right by all the tourist spots. We loved the location. It’s right next to the opera house, short walk to the louvre.
I don’t even mind the old small elevator, as it’s a historical building
The service was great also. My gf lost her luggage by the airline and they coordinated the retrieval of it all the way to our room.
It would have earned a 5 star for the price if only the showering situation was better.
Considering my room was an upgraded room, it’s got quite an awkward arrangement for showering... because the bath tub, which was rather narrow, was also elevated, and had a glass separator. So when you are standing to shower it’s quite awkward and you are most likely getting the floor really wet.
If Marriott came to inspect this, they may not want them as part of their portfolio. I usually love Marriotts and use them often. The hotel was not up to Marriott standards. We needed a handicapped room for my husband and it had a roll in shower. I had to build dams around it with rolled up towels or water went everywhere. The drain and floor were not properly built. There was a very small stool and there was no place to place soap or shampoo in it. We didn't need a roll in shower and could have had a bathroom with a shower stool in a bathtub with some grab bars. It would have been less messy and not have to use towels for dams. The molding of the bathroom door was stained from the water and there was also wood rot. There was no exhaust fan in the bathroom either. There was a sign in the bathroom that you could not use the hair dryer that was supplied in the bathroom. You also could not use it at the desk in the room because there was a TV over it and no mirror. Therefore, I had to stand near the door where the full length mirror was and have the dryer on the floor. The beds' mattresses need to be rotated because they slanted in one direction. The two beds were pushed together. There were also divots in the floor and it was scratched. There was a ceiling panel that was stained and paint peeling. Breakfast was sub par and some odd choices on the buffet. You also had to use the coffee machine for coffee. There were times when there would be 5-6 people in line to get coffee. It would have been much better to have insulated coffee pots on the tables. There was also a crying baby in the room next to us. I asked if there were any ear plugs and they didn't have any. To their credit, they did say the would buy some and put in our room that they did do. The rooms were decent size for an European hotel. The TV above the desk was also all in French. I tried to go to settings to change it to English and there was no option for that. The front desk people were very pleasant.
I stayed at this hotel in July with my family on a trip to Paris. The hotel is in a decent location, very close to the metro and there are some nice cafes to have breakfast and/or a nightcap close by. The hotel itself was very average. Although there was nothing bad about it, you could definitely see the wear and tear throughout the hotel, the hallways, and the room. Would stay here again if I needed a hotel room and everywhere else in this price range was sold out.
