How to Get There
We stayed here with our two children ages 2 and 4. They enjoyed the pool and the play area as well as the play area in the courtyard. Jet lag woke them up at 3:00 am the first night so we checked out the trains at Gare de Lyon and had some breakfast as soon as the cafes opened. The room was clean and the staff very friendly. It is located close to the trains and Metro.
Stayed here for 5 nights whilst travelling with family. The location is perfect as it is close to the metro and SNCF. There are plenty of dining options surrounding the hotel.
The reception staff, Maria and Hugo, made the process short yet informative. They were personable and attentive to our needs.
The room itself was spacious and comfortable.
Breakfast was adequate but the flow of the buffet was very disjointed and did not work. The single pancake machine was extremely popular and was constantly running out of batter. Another machine would have helped.
Betty, the breakfast manager, was fantastic and allocated tables as quickly as she could. She was friendly and always had a cheerful bonjour. She made our daily foray into the buffet line bearable.
All in all, a great and comfortable stay. We will return to this hotel when next in the City of Lights.
As I was running the Paris Marathon this year I thought I would book a few more days in Paris so we could make it a family holiday.
Four of us went. Two adults, 1 teenagers and 1 toddler.
The hotel very family friendly, there’s the pool and games area and a nice little cafe/bar and restaurant on site.
We found the room to be very comfy and the size for the four of us was perfect. There was a kettle with coffee and tea selection.
A fridge and safe. A few nice sized wardrobes and a tv and phone.
Everything you need basically.
The bathroom was of a nice size which had a shower, bath and separate toilet area.
The glass screw between the shower and bedroom is a funky concept. It has a button to be standard glass or misted. (Something our toddler loved)
We went with the breakfast option and I must say we were very satisfied with the variety of foods. There’s is something for everyone.
And as for the location, superb for travel as there’s the train station situated right on your doorstep.
And if you want to go for a nice walk there’s plenty around to discover!
I’m pretty sure when we return to Paris we shall use the Novotel Paris Gare de Lyon again.
We stayed at the Novotel for 3 nights. Check in was easy and the bedroom was really nice and comfortable. The bar had a nice atmosphere early evening - we had pizza there one evening and it was very nice. There was a little kids area with a tv, X boxes and an interactive games table which our 8yo loved. We were busy sightseeing so didn’t use the pool. Breakfast was fine but it did seem a little disorganised at times with things not being replenished straight away. There is a breakfast room on the first floor for families which we didn’t realise until the last morning. Overall, we would stay again - a really nice hotel in a good location especially if you are visiting Disneyland Paris as you can go directly from Gare de Lyon in around 35 minutes.
This hotel does have a lot going for it, not just the great location, directly at the Gare de Lyon.
The reception was fine, the room was clean, modern (flatscreen, BT speaker, opaque-transparent switchable window between bedroom and bathroom), but then... for a family of 4 (booked as such, 2 extra sleeping sofa places) there was not nearly enough shelf or cupboard space. Hence we lived with suitcases blocking the way, clothes spread out, etc.
Also, I had requested a room high up, the 2nd floor out of 6 isn't it...
Breakfast was well presented, but when I informed the staff the milk had gone sour, the response was just an aloof "you can get some from the other machine". The selection is great, but the buffet style of guests will help themselves often didn't work, kids hogging the pancake machine, no one bringing a refill of dough until I point it out.
My boiled eggs disappeared several times, the fresh fruit (pineapple) was a bit off,... lots of small signs of carelessness.
The same was apparent at the pool, the men's side had no lock (well, a broken one) on the bathroom door, no shower curtain, the walls looked like they would have appreciated a coat of paint half a decade ago.
Warning: the hairdryers are dangerous! They drop off the holder if you barely look at them, the other family we were with noticed theirs was rattling, so they didn't dare turn it on, called housekeeping instead.
They in turn just sent a maid to check. Who then got electrocuted, and had to take some days off apparently.
Had it been the other family's 12yo we'd all have spent our Paris weekend in hospital...
