How to Get There
Inside the hotel was kept in great condition, including rooms which were very close to perfect. Even the foyer was always pleasantly scented at all times, with basic drinks being left out for guests coming and going. Staff were very helpful and professional in all instances.
The one thing that let it down was the location; there was almost nothing around. There was one shop and a handful of restaurants. For anything else there was a 20 minute walk, at least. The only good thing about its location was that it was right next to the Bercy underground station, giving you access to the city.
Perfectly located for the Accorhotels Arena, if that's what you're visiting for.
I went to paris with my 2 kids, 11y and 13y, and we were delighted with our stay in this hotel. The staff is great, helpful and very polite. The location is right next to the metro and getting places is really easy.
Lovely hotel situated right next to Accor arena so perfect if going to even there. Modern clean rooms and great breakfast. There are a number of cafes/bars across road but no other shops nearby but underground station is across road.
Chosen for its proximity to a conference venue, but the choice was for us not a great success. I brought my partner and we had, purportedly, a superior room.
It was small and badly designed. The entrance to the bathroom was largely blocked by the bed. It was very difficult for two people to manœuvre around each other. The bathroom fit out and especially the shower was cheap and plastic-y.
There was totally inadequate space in the lobby area for people to meet with each other and the bar is small. On weekends, when they appear to have family events and brunches popular with locals, it is hard to find anywhere to sit.
Breakfast was surprisingly generous and varied for a Parisien hotel, I must admit. But the rule banning you from bringing your handbag is bizarre and really inconvenient. I have not encountered it anywhere else - ever. And I never want to again.
Service was patchy. Checkin was okay for us, but many colleagues experienced rude service. It really depended on who you got. Some staff were professional but others need to be trained, or retrained.
I speak fair French, and my partner is learning but can manage most hotel conversations. This is not helped when the barman sneers at mistakes and constantly corrects pronunciation. We gave up and spoke English.
After quite a few visits to Paris, I have a fair basis for comparison and I have to say that there is little about Novotel Bercy that offers good value for money or a memorable Paris experience.
The place is perfect if you want to be near of the Accor Hotels Arena because you will assist to a concert ! The hotel staff was so nice and useful. But for 170E the night, it's not worth the price. The room is not that big and not that clean. In my room, there is a problem of light so I have to open and close the digital door several times. The bathroom sink was clogged and stank, there was hair in the holes, it was quite disgusting. More than that, for such a price, I thought there would be a toothbrush and goodies but I only had a very small tube of soap... So basically : you will pay the location of the hotel but inside of the room, it could be way better.
