From the black-and-white flooring to the gilded elevator, Millennium Hotel Opera recalls Paris’ Jazz Age; the lobby bar, Le Douze, even has a ceiling dome designed by Eiffel himself. Decadent flourishes are paired with comfy guestrooms and homey lounges stuffed with fireplaces, bookshelves and sturdy brown furniture, and there’s a café-style eatery on-site. The location puts you a pirouette away from the historic Paris Opera, the Louvre and Galaries Lafayette.
Bed and Bath
The rooms are classic but not ornate. Impressionist paintings and architectural sketches dot the walls, and tall French windows overlook a quiet courtyard or the tree-lined Boulevard Haussmann. Bedding and curtains stick to light floral patterns. Amenities include a TV, minibar and safe. The bathroom’s black-and-white tiling, marble tabletops and chrome accents recall the lobby’s design, and bathroom soaps and sundries carry the hotel’s own branding.
The laid-back Brasserie Haussmann is a traditional brasserie with dark wooden tables, brass lamps, red velvet booths, green leather chairs and satirical sketches on the wall. French staples, from onion soup to croque monsieur, are served inside or streetside for more of a café-style dining experience. After dinner grab a book from the hotel’s library and curl up next to the cozy fireplace or sip a digestif at Bar La Bibliotheque.
In the Area
The hotel is close to the historic Paris Opera, which offers ballets, operas and other performances, and a short walk from the iconic department store Galeries Lafayette. The Louvre and its innumerable famous objets — the Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, etc. — is a few stops south on the metro; ride it a little longer to hit the bustling Latin Quarter, Ernest Hemingway’s old haunt, now home to an energetic café and bar scene.
How to Get There
We had booked the Millennium for one night while attending a wedding in Paris. On arrival we were greeted by the manager, the check in went fast and smooth. We were astonished by the beauty of each part of the hotel designed with respect to the French chic and culture, starting from lobby, bar, library and elevators, not even talking about our newly renovated Club room. New rooms are welcoming, comfortable and offer a beautiful view. We also had amenities placed in the room due to the special occasion (what a thoughtful gesture! Thank you!)
Overall, I can say that we wanted to stay at least couple of nights more in order to enjoy the bistro, the breakfast, the room and all the ambassadors of this gorgeous hotel.
A tip: book a Club room, breakfast is always included in the price and you also get an access to the private club lounge on the 8th floor to enjoy a glass of vine before heading to bed or to peacefully have a small breakfast in tranquility while downstairs Paris is at its full speed.
Great choice! Beautiful hotel, superb location, but it is the warm and welcoming staff that made this an amazing choice. Thank you Brahim, Manuel, and Olivia for your joy-filled help...there was even a live orchid in our room. Au bientot.
We stayed at the Millennium Hotel Paris Opera for 6 nights. We stayed in room 602 recently beautifully refurbished, with windows that opened out on to Boulevard Haussmann. We had free access to the Club lounge on the 8th floor, where we had free cold & hot drinks, wine in the evening and small snacks & sweets. Our room had everything that we required: coffee/Tea, etc, but the coffee, from the coffee machine, in the club lounge is better. It was our first time here & would like to return again. The hotel location is very good, it steps away from Metro & walking distance to nice restaurants & bars. All staff very helpful & friendly.
