How to Get There
Fantastic Hotel, clean room and bathroom, spacious and perfectly located. Access to Metro and Exhibition areas in 2 minutes walk. Definitely coming back. I would most definitely recommend the facility to all people traveling to Paris on Business but leisure as well.
The Mercure is well positioned if you are attending the Conference Centre and has a the Underground station (Port de Versailles) about 30 seconds walk away. The hotel provides a very nice room, mine was very clean and comfortable, the bed was very large and comfortable. Mini bar in the room and you can order in wine. There is no food served to the room or I believe a restaurant in the evening, but this is not an issue there are many, many places to eat very close by. The reception staff were efficient and friendly and the breakfast in the Mezzanine floor was good, with a selection of some hot food (Scrambled eggs, sausages) and a full array of continental selections. Overall, perfect if attending the conference, literally 5 minute walk to the entrance across the road (Use the crossing points !) - If planning a couples or family break then this may not be the best option available.
If you have exhibition at Paris Expo...This is your hotel, located few steps away, you just cross the street. Few steps as well to the metro station.
Clean, friendly staff especially at the reception. Poor breakfast!
I stayed here for my birthday celebration in the summer with my family. We called ahead to the hotel as we had a very early flight asking wether they could put our room ahead for cleaning if it will be emptied by the previous guest, which they politely offered to do. We arrived to the hotel around 10am, and when asked the Front desk manager told us to come back in an hour, he believes one of the two rooms will be ready. We came back a good 1,5 hour later, but he was not there anymore and the receptionist had no idea about our rooms or anything we discussed. She asked our patience, as she thinks the room will be ready within an hour tops. Well basically we had the room way after 13:00, so instead of just leaving to the city and coming back later we wasted several hours on waiting.... on the last day we asked for a later check.out, when the night receptionist told us there is possibility and he sees that the house will not be full the day after, so he will note it and we should return in the morning. In the morning the Front desk manager told me off in such an unnacceptable way, quoting " I would never give you a late check-out even if I had available rooms", also shouting that we are liars and we were never offered the rooms earlier on the check-in day, etc etc... He is a disgrace to the hotel I swear. Having been working in the hotel industry for quite a long time (front desk manager) myself, I have never experienced such rude temper and unprofessional attitude in my whole life. The rest of the staff was very kind, the hotel was very clean and great location, just outside the metro stop, so you can get into Paris city centre within 15 mins. Because of this incredibly rude experience I would never recommend this place to anyone.
I stayed 14-19 September, 2018, for five nights; for business.
The Mercure Paris Vaugirard Porte de Versailles Hotel has an excellent location for access to the Expo grounds, which are located across the street. Additionally, there is a subway station literally outside the front door of the hotel, which provides access to the Paris Metro (subway) network. As such, the location is great. If you are arriving by air, Orly Airport is a MUCH better option than is Charles de Gaulle Airport.
The staff are friendly, and breakfast is very nice, with a wide selection, and good hours. The rooms are in need of refurbishment or renovation, with paint peeling off the walls, dripping bathroom pipes, leaking cisterns, etc. Note: the rooms are carpeted with fairly thick carpets. The rooms are also a little small, but this is the norm for Paris. There is excellent soundproofing on the windows, so, no noise from the busy street below (unless the window is open)! The rooms have tea and coffee facilitates, which are replenished daily. Note: no black tea was provided.
I found housekeeping a little irritating, as the service was inconsistent. One day, everything in the bathroom was replenished, the next day, just some bits, other times, nothing at all. Additionally, I used a loyalty card as the "keycard" in the keycard slot on the wall to activate the lights, but housekeeping removed it, and then lost it. Despite follow-up at reception, no luck in getting it back, which I found was pretty poor customer service.
For a visit to the Expo, I would stay again. For other visits to Paris, I would probably pick elsewhere.
