How to Get There
This is my second time staying in this hotel. I chose this hotel because of its location, you can see the Eiffel Tower a few steps from the hotel. The Eiffel Tower is within a few minutes walk. Check-in was quick. The bedroom is clean and the bed is comfy. There is a small fitness centre with view of the Eiffel Tower. We enjoyed our welcome drinks in the lounge. Breakfast area is very nice with reasonable variety of hot and cold food and drinks. I'm a silver member so we were assigned a "privileged room" with bathrobe, slippers, complimentary macaroons and biscuits. Free drinks were in the room and replenished daily. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would stay again.
Great place to stay in Paris!!! This hotel is literally a 7 min walk away from the Eiffel Tower. You can walk down it's driveway, and take amazing photos of yourself in front of the Tower, or sit on the steps and watch it light up at night, it's that close. If you're new to Paris, or just care about location, you cannot beat this!
The hotel is very modern, and easy to navigate. The rooms are nice, but if you're used to U.S. sized rooms, be advised that Euro rooms are small, and these are no exception. No microwave or dressers, but there is a mii-fridge, coffee maker, and outlets near the beds. As with most in Paris, the toilet is separate from the shower; the toilet room is small, with no bars or handles to pull yourself up (those who need that, beware). The tub is ridiculously tall, and downright dangerous for shorter folks, so be careful getting in and out. You can ask for an iron and ironing board (they did not come in the room). Air conditioning is turned off in the winter, and the rooms are very warm on their own. If you need to cool it down, the windows open up, but there are no screens on them. I found the beds to be hard, but not unbearably so. The room doors are very heavy, and keep out sound from the hallway very well.
There is an excellent breakfast buffet in the morning until 10am; all the usual Euro fare, plus many different coffee choices. They put the deli items (sliced meats, cheeses, boiled eggs and tomatoes) away from the rest of the food; this table had alot of knats on the wall near it. Not sure what was going on there, but they weren't flying on the food, so? Croissants are decent, but if you're a croissant snob, then find a boulangerie. Scrambled eggs are decent, but the bacon was consistently greasy. And, they leave the yogurt out of ice, so if you're scared of warm yogurt, ask the staff for a fresh one from the kitchen.
We found the front desk staff to be very nice and helpful. They helped us figure out how to get places in the City, which Metros to ride, where to get things we needed, and even printed copies of documents we needed (boarding passes, tickets to shows, etc). The entrance to the hotel is guarded 24/7, and the guards are nice and helpful as well.
The neighborhood is extremely safe. A 7 minute walk in the opposite direction puts you at the Bir-Hakeim Metro station, which is just one train and few stops away from the Lourve (cost is 1.90 euro, 3.80 roundtrip). This is near the Seine, and Bir-Hakeim bridge if you want to take romantic photos at night overlooking the Seine. Also, there is a lovely flea market that happens everyday underneath the Line 6 Metro (the Line for the Bir-Hakeim station) where you can get vintage luxury bags and clothing (Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Prada, etc.), silver, crystal, furniture, jewelry, African cloths, art, etc. And, very close is a stop for a Hop-On Hop-Off tour bus (walking towards the ET, but turning left, just beyond the restaurants and souvenir shops).
You really can't go wrong with this hotel, unless you don't do your homework and end up paying more than you should for a room. So, do your homework, and enjoy this gem of a hotel in the City of Light!
This hotel is very well located (just one block from Metro and RER),
has modern instalations, a delicious and plenty of choices breakfast, not to tell the lovely, attentious and prompt to help staff. What else you can wish?
Just to have an idea, I checked in on my birthday and when I arrived at my room, there was ballons, confetti, a letter and a chocolate. It was like a party far from home that made me happy. Thank you Mercure team.
The hotel has small rooms, with hardly any facilities. While the reception staff was very co-operative, the in-room service was pathetic. The housekeeping staff entered the room inspite of a "Do No Disturb" sign. Further, you are asked to come down to the restaurant to collect cutlery. 2 Paper Cups provided for a so called "Complimentary" Bar in the PRIVILEGE ROOM being a Gold Member. Shudder to think what kind of service is available for ordinary rooms for ordinary guests.
The management was also not very interested in addressing the issue,
A VERY BAD EXPERIENCE.
First what a great location - walk out and Eiffel Tower is right out the door! Amazing at night with it twinkling every hour. Two metro stops near hotel which was very convenient! Breakfast was fantastic! I miss the bread and the croissants. Great coffee, fruit, eggs, etc etc !!! Room was a bit small but standard for Europe. Room was very clean and bathroom shower was rain shower so it was very nice. I like how the toilet and shower were separate - really helped with getting ready in the morning. Staff was so professional, polite and helpful! I would definitely go back to the Mercure again!!!! Thank you for a very pleasant trip! Merci, Meric!!!
