Half renovated hotel but sweet staff
Reviewed 1 month ago

Grotty building in ‘bobo’ area - outside looks like abandoned apartments from the 70’s
Cosmetic make over of room - poorly insulated from rows noise, ac didn’t work and old school radiators had thermostat missing
Cosmetic renovations with some funky paper and cool lights and chairs but a bad building that needs serious upgrade
Breakfast was ok - but restocking an issue

Staff were lovely - lady in the breakfast basement was charming and reception female staff also lovely

Rooms on roadside suffer from noise even with the roller shutter closed - the marché nearby had very early traffic ...

Our room was so small had to move the bed over against the wall to put the suitcase on the floor to open it . Nowhere else to put it. . The sliding door to the exterior was screwed shut no fresh air . The walls were filthy. As were the carpets . The lift so small three peoples luggage and one person. The business centre in a cupboard was a joke as was the lounge and cocktail bar(They didn't know or have the ingredients to make cocktails). They rooftop terrace was a disgusting eyesore. In all I don't know how this place who has the audacity to charge top price got Accor Accreditation.

Good intent but poor service

The hotel is slightly far from city. It has small rooms and the service is very dis-organised. Some day you get water bottle and some day you don't. Staff organised boiled lentils when asked for something vegetarian in breakfast.

The BEST free breakfast of our European trip
Reviewed 11 months ago

Paris was the last destination of a 3 week trip in Europe for my husband and I. We were running out of gas and started to miss our home, but this hotel was the perfect respite to close out this wonderful but exhausting trip. This local neighborhood located in the 11 Arrondissement, suggested by a friend who has lived in Paris for the past 10 years, boasts several bars with a healthy nightlife, lots of local apparel shops, delis, restaurants and the real life of Parisians without breaking the bank. While it may appear to be far from the tourist attractions, it has 2 close by metro entrances, a supermarket 1/2 block away, plus the hotel is very well priced, very comfortable with an enormous bed, great water pressure and temperature gauge in the shower, great pillows both puffy and flat (my kind so I slept like a rock), our room had a separate room for the toilet which was convenient, and it is safe with 24hr security. But no other hotel compares when it comes to the breakfast at the Mercure Bastille. Held in a super cute and welcoming breakfast room, the breakfast contains: yogurt, triangles of brie cheese, fresh squeezed orange juice (amazing!), croissants, baguette, and rolls; Nutella and various flavors of jam, hard boiled eggs which you can cook yourself depending to your liking (this was kinda fun as I'd never seen the boiled-egg cooking apparatus before), the staff cooks scrambled eggs and sausages, and they roll cured meats such as turkey, ham, and salami. There is milk and two types of cereals. The icing on the cake is really really good coffee. This was the only hotel that had a NESPRESSO machine and you have a choice of several flavors and strengths. Whaaaaa?! I don't know about you but I need a good strong cup of joe in the morning to get my day started. Also since the hotel is pet-friendly, I met a big ol' sweet as pie greyhound traveling with his dad, an Englishman, and his father. It was awesome. So all and all we loved our stay at this hotel, and frankly would return just for that breakfast alone!

Good for one night but not a great area

Good choice for a one night stay, reasonable value, nice clean room, comfy bed and ok breakfast too, but over-long wait to check in was annoying after a long trip. Bit of a walk to Gare de Lyon and the general area wasn't particularly nice.
