In a quiet residential area in the 15th Arrondissement, a five-minute walk from the Eiffel Tower, Le Marquis is a contemporary and cozy boutique retreat that has just undergone a hip refurbishment by Parisian interior designer Oscar Ono. Behind a traditional Haussmann façade, the lobby features pillars decorated in abstract designs and a mirror-lined bar, and the breakfast room leads through to a leafy courtyard terrace and a snug sitting room with library. Furnished with low tables and lounge chairs, the public spaces are decked out in muted tones of gray, burnished copper and brown. The restrained gray and cream palette in the guestrooms is offset by zebra patterned carpeting, while the spirit of the Parisian dandy is reflected in a series of black-and-white photographs that decorate the walls. The rooms also feature flat-screen TVs, free WiFi, a desk area and ample closet space, and nearly all the 36 rooms (Classic and Executive) feature a bathtub and Hermès accessories.
In the Area
The Eiffel Tower is a five-minute stroll from the property and offers unparalleled views of the City of Lights. At the other end of the tree-lined Champ de Mars is the golden dome of the Hôtel des Invalides, which houses Napoleon’s magnificent tomb. From the Eiffel Tower you can walk along the Seine to the Musée d’Orsay, with its wonderful collection of 19th-century paintings covering Romanticism, Impressionism and Post-Impressionism. On a fine evening head over to the Montparnasse Tower to eat in the clouds at the aptly named restaurant Ciel de Paris. In the experienced hands of top chef Christophe Marchais, the restaurant also proposes a “souper” menu at 11 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays for those coming out of the nearby theaters on an empty stomach.
How to Get There
Stayed here many times, and it will continue to be our go-to place in Paris. The location is fabulous, if you ignore the super dreary Village Suisse round the corner, and there is a newly opened Auchan supermarket opposite, great for a pic-nic on the hoof. The staff are, without exception, wonderful and welcoming, and a special thank you to the handsome and attentive Robert. This year we went with friends and we knew they would not be disappointed. They loved it. We'll be back.
The hotel was very charming. It felt like a home away from home. The room décor was nice and simple. Your provided with a phone you can use while there with free local and international calls. The staff is lovely, Robert was extremely nice and very much service orientated. Walking distance to the Eiffel Tower, nice restaurants and bakeries close by, had a wonderful time!
This hotel is located both close enough to the tourist action (eg 10 mins walk from Tour Eiffel) but also within a discrict that is home to "normal" Parisiens, so the visitor can enjoy the best of both worlds, including the cafe, bistro and artisan provisions culture without being fleeced financially as is often the case when frequenting the more touristy areas of the city.
The hotel is boutique-esque in look & feel, although the rooms are quite spacious for Paris.
Staff are polite & helpful without being too overbearing.
Try it as an alternative to staying at one of the hotels provided by the large intetnational chains and enjoy a more authentic Paris break!
Clean hotel in a great location with very pleasant staff, I would definitely recommend. Five minutes walk to the Eiffel Tower and close to some very nice restaurant. The smart phone with google maps is a great idea.
Clean hotel, with nice smelling reception. Kettle and coffee maker provided in our room. The room was comparable to a UK Premier Inn. Hermes toiletries in the bathroom were lovely but no conditioner and they were not replenished during our 3 night stay. Walls are very thin, we had a problem one night with noisy neighbour and couldn’t get anyone on reception to answer the phone so my husband had to get dressed and go down to reception. The Night Porter then sorted the situation.
The worst part of our stay was the lack of knowledge by one of the gentlemen on reception who gave us totally incorrect information about train strikes and travel to Disneyland, but suggested we could take a taxi at 85 euros one way!
The hotel is in a good location about 10 minutes walk to the Eiffel Tower.
