How to Get There

Le General Hotel

Wow!! Where do I begin?? I stay in hotels world wide on a regular basis so I know what’s a good hotel and what’s an exceptional one.. and le general is simply phenomenal!! On arrival we had a problem with our booking and the room we were given did not meet our needs. The staff were beyond amazing!!! They treated us with the upmost professionalism and made us immediately feel like we were royalty! Despite my husband being grumpy they totally won us over in minutes! All the staff are fantastic but I must say in particular the general manager and female receptionist were particularly amazing with my son and husband!! I cannot recommend Le general more! The rooms, staff and location are all phenomena!! Thank you so much xxxx

Fantastic hotel for a long weekend in Paris

My partner and I stayed for three nights at Le General hotel. We arrived by train in the morning into Gare du Nord and took a 25 min walk down to the hotel. We knew that check-in wasn't until 2pm that day but once we arrived, the hotel staff were brilliant, telling us that luckily our room was ready so we had early access. Before we went to the room, the reception staff sat us down with a complimentary coffee and biscuit, gave us a map of Paris and of the local area and gave us tips/ advice on how to get to where we wanted to visit. They also told us about the local area e.g. the fact that on a Sunday, Le Marais is pedestrianised and all shops open for business. We received a complimentary glass of champagne each, which was a lovely touch and a great way to celebrate the start our trip. We stayed in a room on the first floor; the room itself was on the smaller side but perfect for a city break when you’re not spending much time in the room - we were really impressed with it. The room was modern and cleaned daily - you get complimentary bottles of water each day too. There are umbrellas in the reception that guests are able to use. On our last day, our train home wasn’t until the evening; the hotel staff were great and allowed us to store our luggage with them after check-out at 10am, until we collected it around 5pm.

The location of the hotel, in our opinion, was perfect. We did lots of walking and only used the metro a handful of times – but the hotel is right in between two metro stations (Republique and Oberkampf) which are 5-10mins walk away and takes you to all the popular tourist sites on line 9. If you take a 20-25min walk down Rue de Temple, you’ll end up on the Siene River just by Notre-Dame Cathedral. The hotel itself is in-between Le Marais and Saint Martin – both lovely areas; lots of bars, restaurants, cafes and boulangeries. A short walk away is Bastille, which does a great market of local produce on Sundays.

Overall, this was a great hotel – perfect location with friendly and helpful staff. I would definitely recommend the hotel as a good base for anyone visiting Paris.

Loved it

We booked for a long weekend and loved the central location and decor. Room was compact but nicely laid out. Staff were lovely and friendly and gave excellent recommendations for food and assistance with travel plans and sightseeing!
