How to Get There
Family trip (Dad, Mom, two boys 14 and 11) to Paris for 9 days. Hotel Le Derby Alma is a great option for families. The room was a “family” room, with a nice sized bed and a pull out sofa that was comfortable and fit both boys. Enough space in the room for everyone. Bathroom was in between the two bed areas, and was modern. It took a bit to figure out the shower (there’s a button on the underside of the handle to get the shower to work!) but otherwise all worked well.
Front desk staff is exceptional. All spoke English fluently, and enjoyed my attempts at speaking French. They helped with directions, arranging transportation, reservations, and did it all with a very friendly attitude. I really can’t say enough good things about them. A real asset to the hotel.
We didn’t have a view of the tower, but a 1/2 block walk from the hotel and viola! There it is. Absolutely stunning, so even though we didn’t have a view, as the hotel is so close it is as if we did. The location on Avenue Rapp is close to some really great restaurants (Christian Constant has a few places down the block) and cafes and boulangeries. Les Petit Gourmands boulangerie on Rue Saint Dominique is a must for morning coffee and croissants.
I spent just one night solo in Paris or work/vacation. I usually stay in the 4th/Marais district, but I decided to change things up and book in the 7th by the Eiffel Tower this time. I am so glad I booked at the Derby Alma! I do speak and understand French fluently, but I noticed that the staff spoke English as well and offered a genuine warm welcome. When I walked in, Lucile at the reception was immediately very kind and helpful. My room was on the top floor with one of the most gorgeous views (of the tower) I had ever seen! The room was relatively small, but spotless and modern. The bed itself was very comfy (fluffy pillows), and the room was also well air-conditioned and quiet. After dinner, I came back and talked to Mehdi, the night receptionist, who couldn't have been more friendly and outgoing. The hotel bar was small but welcoming...guests were able to meet and converse easily. Very cool! As I was getting ready to leave the next day for the US, Mehdi helped me take care of anything I needed at a moment's notice...simply outstanding! In general, the hotel itself is super well-located, especially if you love the Tour Eiffel---literally steps from the tower, with metro Alma-Marceau about 5-10 minutes on foot. I had a great stay here, and I would come back for sure! Merci beaucoup!
I loved staying here. It had a good location the decorations were trendy and clean rooms. The staff are nice too. It’s a small hotel but it has a great atmosphere. The bathrooms are big and look really nice.
