With 20 arrondissements to explore, and each offering a different character, visitors to Paris can be forgiven for not knowing where to start. Why not kick things off in the second arrondissement? With the Opéra Garnier and the National Library, this neighborhood may just be first when it comes to culture. It’s also home to Hôtel Square Louvois, a regal four-star boutique hotel. Staying here, you’ll be right next to the historical shopping arcades, as well as the city’s centers of banking and business.
The Bourse (stock exchange) may be right outside, but the real riches are within the hotel, where breathtaking Art Deco details complement classic and elegant French design. There’s plenty of that Parisian cool, too, with velvet curtains, chandeliers and, of course, an essential coffee machine in every room. A swimming pool with a hydro-massage bench and an herbal tearoom are all hidden in the stone vaults below, meaning there’s even more to this luxe hotel than meets the eye.
The tasteful design in the guest rooms here really steals the show, with velvet curtains adding a luxurious touch to the chic Parisian décor. You’ll find oak flooring, Parisian tapestries and copper finishes, all set against a backdrop of soothing blues and natural wooden tones. The Classic rooms range from 160-200 square feet, while the Superior rooms offer a bit more space, measuring in at 190-225 square feet.
Slide into one of the colorful banquettes in the dining room, and savor the delicious breakfast and afternoon tea on offer here. Wake up to an assortment of pastries and breads, or enjoy a French-style afternoon snack, with cakes, pastries and gourmet teas.
Thanks to the privacy of its stone vaults, the wellness area at Hôtel Square Louvois has an incredibly serene, traquil vibe. Underneath the exposed stonework, you’ll find a swimming pool with a hydro-massage bench, a sauna, an herbal tearoom for a post-treatment pick-me-up and a menu of therapies and massages that can even be enjoyed in your guestroom. Cardio machines are also available for when you want to up the tempo.
Taking its name from its location at the heart of the second arrondissement, Hôtel Square Louvois is well placed for visiting the major cultural sites of Paris. You can start with the nearby Opéra Garnier and Place de la Madeleine, and then continue on through the Haussmannian streets to see what other treasures the City of Light has in store for you.
How to Get There
The rooms are not the biggest, but it is well appointed with anything you get from Luxury 5-star chains. Location is just a few minutes from the Louvre, the Opera and the Metro. Lots of restaurants (mostly Asian) in the vicinity as well. The pool in the basement was cool. Service was great as well.
I usually wait until I have arrived home to leave a review, but I am currently sat in the hotel's library having just checked out.
What can I say? What an amazing hotel!
We stayed here for a Valentine's Break and it was perfect from start to finish. The hotel is in a fantastic location, surrounded by an array of brilliant Asian restaurants, as well as other cuisine. It is within easy walking distance of Opéra and everything you could want - Galleries Lafayette, landmarks for photography, good restaurants, cinema etc.
Oftentimes professional photos for hotels can be deceiving, however what you see is literally what you get. That swimming pool in the cave, is just as amazing in real life - if not more so! We had a lovely swim in it last night and had the pool to ourselves. It opens at around 10am until 10pm. The room was beautiful and there was no noise. The bed is also incredibly comfortable.
Every single member of staff we encountered - from cleaning, to restaurant, to reception - were all so lovely. Their English is superb as well, so don't worry if your French is slightly lacking.
The food was fantastic. Breakfast consisted of eggs (scrambled or boiled), bacon, sausages, pastries, yoghurts, fresh breads, cheeses and cold meats, served until 11am. The other good thing to note is that from 4pm, in the restaurant, they offer free snacks until 6pm. Head down there for a coffee, hot chocolate, freshly squeezed juice, tea, and cakes, pastries and chocolates.
Perfect from start to finish. Thank you so much and I really hope we will be back.
(Room 506, 13th February - 15th February)
We stayed for 3 nights for a short city break. The hotel was in a handy location for all the main sights we wanted to see. All staff were friendly and helpful. The decor of the hotel - both the communal areas and bedrooms - were beautiful. The rooms were a good size and we could hear no sound from outside. There is no access to the bedroom floors for non-residents so it feels very secure as well. Everything was spotless and looked brand new. The afternoon tea was a lovely perk. I wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend.
We were at this Hotel last weekend. It was fabulous. Great location being central to most of Paris and within walking distance of most main areas (if you like walking, as Paris is rather larger than expected). Quite close to the Opera which was the main route in by bus from Charles De Gaulle airport. I was better than taking an cab and fairly comfortable. The rooms in most Parisian Hotels are small. But we were upgraded and had a comfortable Superior size room. Tea, Coffee (Nespresso Machine) and mini bar as standard. We did not have the breakfast as we were to busy getting around to see the sites. We did return for Tea one day, served around 4pm which was free with drinks (no alcohol) and cake. They also provided some popular games like chess, draughts and the like. It was well received by us. The staff could not have been more helpful, suggesting places and arranging cabs and giving directions. Small maps are available at reception. The only drawback came when we wanted to print our boarding cards and had no direct access to a printer. It was resolved by one of the staff using their personal email account to send files to the office printer. If we had to return to Paris we would definitely consider staying here and will be happily recommending it. The staff were fantastic.
I stayed with my husband for a short city break and we were really impressed with the hotel. The position is fantastic for visiting all sights - quick walk to the Louvre. Lots of quirky passageways of shops nearby. The hotel itself was fantastically clean and the rooms were a good size. Little extras like a Nespresso machine made it feel extra special as did the included afternoon tea every day. The design of the rooms was very modern but welcoming and had modern touches such as usb charging points.
