Girls Weekend in Paris

Myself and two friends decided to book this hotel as the location seemed fairly central, the price was reasonable and they were able to accommodate the 3 of us in one room. The triple room (on the top floor) is actually a double room and bathroom which has a seperate single room with en suite shower room off of it and this suited us perfectly...in fact the single room (which was my room) exceeded my expectations because I was a little worried it would be tiny as alot of the other reviews commented on the general size of the rooms but it was actually a bit roomier than the double room my friends shared in terms of floor space and having the seperate shower room was a definate bonus with 3 ladies trying to get ready at the same time.
The lift up to the top floor is very small though and the 3 of us with luggage could not fit in although we could all squeeze in without the bags.
The room was clean and had really good air con - another bonus for us as it was pretty hot weather during our stay.
The breakfasts were lovely with lots of choice i.e. eggs, bacon, sausage or pastries, cereals, fruit and yogurts or cheeses etc and included in the room price.
We had a slightly negative experience during our stay which was that the fire alarm went off very early on Sunday morning which saw us bleary eyed traipsing down 5 flights of stairs to stand outside the building for apparently no reason as the staff said it was a false alarm but did not apologise for the rude awakening or seem to know how to turn the VERY loud alarm off for quite a while.
Another small negative would be that I found the one pillow per person very inadequate as they are pretty flat. I asked reception for an additonal pillow and she did react in a way that made me think I had caused her serious inconvenence but she did produce the pillow for me which made my stay alot more comfortable.
The hotel is located in quite a busy area although the road itself is fairly quiet, there are plenty of bars, restaurants and shops within a short walk and better yet, the area of Montmatre is a 5-10 minute walk away with the funicular up to the very impressive Sacre Coure Cathedral and beautiful views of Paris. Metro stations of Pigalle and St Georges also a short walk so very easy to get around (although, if travelling alone or late at night I would personally avoid Pigalle as it is the only area in Paris we visited I felt was a bit "dodgy")
All in all we were happy with our stay.

not our top pick

We arrived and the hotel staff were not very helpful. The showers were tiny and our room had a hole in the wall. Upkeep of the hotel is lacking. The beds were clean and so was the bathroom however the hotel rooms are run down. Location was a few minutes walk to the metro. Would try to find another spot on our next visit.

Quircky and fun

This hotel is located in a fantastic part of the city, the surrounding streets are filled with fascinating shops and great restaurants and cafes, getting around is easy.
The reception and communal areas are imaginatively decorated with an opera/theatre theme. We stayed for a long weekend and found the staff very friendly and helpful. Our room was a decent size, although I was aware other guests felt theirs were small. We had a balcony which we made full use of, despite having a building site opposite. The bathroom was a little tight, particularly the shower cubicle but we managed.
Breakfast was more than adequate, tea/coffee and nibbles were available through the day.
The only real downside was street noise late at night and early morning, only to be expected in this location.
