Hotel Observatoire Luxembourg
What We Love
- A quirky boutique hotel in the heart of Paris' romantic Latin quarter, with breakfastMaking the most of your central Paris location – on the Left Bank, right by the Luxembourg Gardens
- The elegant neo-classical style of the décor
- Feasting on French classics at the in-house Brasserie, Le Luco
What To Know
- Rooms are cozy but typical given Parisian standards
- Notre Dame and the Louvre are within walking distance
- Despite its position on Boulevard St. Michel, rooms are quiet
- Free WiFi works well
Any of Paris’ arrondissements merit time spent exploring, but the fifth, around the dynamic Latin Quarter, deserves a special mention. This historic central area, one of the oldest in the French capital, is close to the bohemian district of Saint-Germain, with its street artists and macaron shops, the beautiful Luxembourg Gardens and the iconic, groomed Sorbonne.
Right in the heart of it all, you’ll find the boutique Hotel Observatoire Luxembourg. With 41 rooms, the hotel is intimate and utterly Parisian, with a neo-classical flavor, furnishings by French designers and a renowned in-house brasserie. When you’re not savoring French specialties at the hotel, you’ll find every type of cuisine in the warren of streets off Place St Michel – plus some seriously cool late-night bars.
How to Get There
The front desk staff was extremely helpful with answering questions and suggesting recommendations for touring and eating around the city. The rooms were very clean, comfortable and modern with all the needed amenities. Attached eatery was convenient for breakfast, evening snack and cocktails at the bar! Definitely recommend this hotel....also nicely located near subway and bus stop.
Our family enjoyed two adjacent superior rooms in this boutique hotel for 4 nights last week and loved it. The location was perfect for us - it is within a block of the Luxembourg Gardens and less than half a block from the RER station. The rooms are small but very nice and clean, and our bathroom was actually very spacious and very well appointed. Our rooms were on the 2nd floor (3rd floor, since the ground floor is 0) and overlooked the main road (St. Michel) but we had no noise issues at all. A wonderful fresh breakfast is served each morning in the traditional Paris sidewalk cafe. And the front desk staff was excellent - they greeted us each morning and upon return in the afternoons/evenings with a genuine and warm smile and were happy to help with anything we needed. Just to be clear, this is a boutique hotel and not a large full service hotel, so it does not have a fitness center, spa, etc. But this is exactly what we were looking for. We would happily return to this hotel and would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to others.
Spent the last week at this hotel and it was the absolutely best! The rooms were snug but very cozy and clean. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was updated. The staff was the very best! Very friendly and very helpful. Close to Public transportation. I could not have asked for a better place to stay and as a big critic, that is great coming from me.
Spacious, comfortable Deluxe room with double glazed, opening window/s.Efficient, quiet reverse cycle a/c. Friendly, helpful staff. The hotel is appealing due to its boutique style and it is very clean. The Restaurant serves nice breakfasts, lunch&dinners ( closed for dinner on Sundays& same menu for lunch& dinner).
Excellent location- Left Bank. Opposite Luxembourg Gardens & easy walking distance to Left and Right Bank attractions. Hotel is in the 5th Arondissement, in the Latin Quarter. A nice area with a good choice of restaurant cafes. We can also highly recommend booking day trip outings with Deluxe Drivers- we thoroughly enjoyed an informative & interesting day trip to visit 3 grand Renaissance chateaux of the Loire Valley, with Christiane, our friendly English speaking driver who has a wealth of knowledge to share.
This hotel has very friendly and helpful reception staff. The bedrooms are city small but comfortable and the shower powerful. The breakfasts are good - I had a tasty scrambled egg. Ideally placed opposite the Luxembourg gardens and for the university area of Paris. When I visit Paris I will stay again at this excellent hotel.
