How to Get There
Outstanding accommodation and value. Staff wonderful and great room. Could not be more pleased. Location good for Metro and walk to many points of interest. Museums, shopping, and many other areas very convenient
I have stayed at the Hotel Mansart two times while in Paris. This hotel is located very near to Place Vendome which is central to The Louvre, fine shopping, great dining and just a beautiful area. The help was eager to give me directions, make dinner reservations, etc. The rooms are esquisite. Many have been renovated and have beautiful bathrooms as well as ample storage and fine linens. The breakfast can't be beat. a large selection of breakfast goodies including hot items. They also serve you a large fresh squeezed glass of orange juice with your breakfast. I will ALWAYS stay at Hotel Mansart during my stays in Paris. You should too!!!
All is quite well apart from muddle-head staff on reception desk. The girl about half an hour was estimating with the calculating machine how much it would be cost 4 breakfasts per 2 persons for the 4 days of our stay (18 euro х 4 х 2). As a result of this hardest calculating operation she charged the credit card with extra 400 euros. After noticing that and pointing out on this mistake by me the long manipulations with the calculating machine followed again))) then followed apologies and refund of extra money. But as it turned out the problem with "unfortunate breakfasts" hadn't finished))). On the day of our checking out now the older man on reception was suspecting us that we somehow could eat in their hotel 5 breakfasts during 4 days of stay so we must pay 36 euros more for the two breakfasts of the day of our arriving to the hotel. Taking into account that they let us into hotel only after 3 p.m. the logic of eating breakfast which ends at 11 a.m. seems irrefutable !!! the long calculation with the machine started again. Taking into account that we were checking out very early in the morning because of early flight and the time spent of proving of stupid things our opportunity of eating of really paid breakfast for the last day was at real risk !!!)))) Thanks god another man from the reception (the young one) who witnessed all the "epopee" from the very start came in time and made understand his colleague that everything was paid.
I have stayed at a number of small hotels in Paris, including a couple in the Vendome/Opera neighbourhood. The Mansart is in the middle of the price range that I've experienced and I thought it was a good value. My room was quiet, it's in a central and very walkable location, and the staff was friendly. I didn't try the breakfast (no time) but it looked good as I walked by. Everything you could want in Paris is nearby. The wifi isn't fabulous (service is consistent but slow) but everything else was top drawer.
We stayed at the Mansart during two weekends that bracketed a barge cruise because it's where we were picked up and dropped off. Although the convenience was helpful, we found the hotel to be an excellent one for visiting Paris at any time. The staff were friendly and helpful, both in getting us into a room after a 9 am arrival and for suggesting nearby places to eat. They willingly spoke good English to make us comfortable, and they were patient with me when I tried my kindergarten French. Rooms were well equipped and comfortable, and the bathrooms were modern and well outfitted (robes, slippers, etc.) The shower was divine. They only serve breakfast, a good one in an intimate room. Perhaps the only drawbacks were distance to a Metro station and occasional noise from cafes across the street. We'd return there if in Paris again.
