Like staying with old friends

Delightful little hotel B&B close to the Bon Marche store. Most rooms are compact, but there are a few small suites. All have ensuite bathrooms of course. The style is a warm, cosy, country house look designed by the late David Hicks.

Staff are very friendly. Continental breakfast is available in the basement but there is no restaurant - who needs that with so many wonderful eateries close by.

Parking is available directly opposite which is really useful.
We've been visiting this hotel for 15 years now and whilst the decor does not change it is very well maintained. A stay here is a little like staying with old friends; far better than in some large faceless chain.

Not as nice as I had hoped

This was my fourth visit to Paris but the first for my best friend.

I love the area of Saint Germain so looked for a nice hotel with a reasonable price tag.

Prior to arrival the hotel had always responded promptly to any emails I sent.

When we arrived the exterior looked nice and very traditional. The reception area is small but pleasant.

Our room was on the 5th floor (52) and had a balcony which was a bonus. The room was spacious with separate toilet and bathroom. However, there were no locks on with the toilet or the bathroom???? This was very odd and inconvenient.

There was one tiny bottle of warm mineral water waiting for us and no tea/coffee making facilities.

The bathroom was basic but not what I’d expect from a 4star hotel.

Beds were comfy with amazing pillows. The tv didn’t have any Uk channels which is odd as most have a least BBC NEWS 24!!!!

On our first night we were woke by some inconsiderate guests banging in our door at 11.45pm and laughing. This happened several time and when I called reception to complain they knew exactly who it was??? This ruined our first nights sleep and is the main reason for this low score.
Who ever it was ‘visiting’ the room next to us only stayed an hour maximum....make of that what you will.

You have an old fashioned key to the rooms which you must hand back in each time you go out and with no safe in the room I did feel our possessions were vulnerable.

The room was big for Paris and the beds were lovely but it’s not what I’ve come to expect from a 4 star establishment.

I don’t think I’ll book again to be honest.

homely yet elegant hotel

We've been staying in Paris hotels for years but this is one of the very nicest. It's an unassuming place but the atmosphere is very welcoming and the room (a classic double room, no 36 on the third floor) is narrow yet long and spacious with fine old furniture, and very quiet, with french windows onto a courtyard at the back (but not much of a view). A place to go back to.

Average for a 4* hotel

The hotel is in a convenient location. The reception desk staff is not as warm and helpful except for one lady. They’d do what was asked ( like printing boarding passes...) but without a smile. Room is good sized but very plain and lacks the few basics such as a kettle and coffee/tea in the room, daily water bottle refill...Breakfast is adequate but very few choices. The helpers disappeared in the kitchen after bringing you the coffee, bread, croissants and juice. Eggs are available for an extra 4 Euros just like a cup of coffee from the reception area. Overall, a nice and pleasant hotel but not much to write about.
