How to Get There
We were glad to be staying at Le Marcel during our Paris stay. It is attractive and well managed. The hotel was easy to reach from Charles de Gaulle airport via the RER suburban train to the Gare du Nord stop. It's across the street from the Gare de l’Est, where we boarded a train to Strasbourg two days later. The hotel staff was always responsive to our needs. The breakfast buffet was the best of our entire trip, and a bargain at 8€ (at a rate we booked months ahead). We liked our Room 601 with a view of the handsome Gare de l’Est. The room had central air conditioning with a thermostat you set to the temperature you want.
I've stayed here a number of times and would recommend it. It offers comfortable, well-equipped rooms. Very good sound insulation, so there is no noise from the street.
Good buffet breakfast (very nice pastries and deli selection, only the muesli could be better), pleasant ambience.
Excellent wifi available free.
Very good location - opposite Gare de l'Est, so the Métro is right outside, and it's not far from the Gare du Nord for Eurostar. Plenty of restaurants in the surrounding streets.
Great location. 2min walk to Gare de Est and 5min walk to Gare du Nord. Lots of restaurants in the area.
Rooms are very small but we hardly spend any time there so for us it was not a problem. Otherwise the room was clean and bed very comfortable.
We tried their breakfast and really liked it. There was coffee, tea, orange juice, bacon, egg, different sorts of bread, yogurt and more. Price for breakfast was 15€ p/p.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the Marcel.
Two thumbs up for the great staff!!
My girlfriend and I arrived in Paris yesterday after a 15 hour flight. We arrived at 8:am. I had decided to book a hotel, over an AirB&B because were only in Paris for 1 night, and thought I could most likely check in around 11am. My girlfriend had never been there, She was so excited!! and we were going to spend our anniversary together in Paris, a girls dream! So I decided I’d book us something nice, so we could have a super romantic experience.
Before departure in Singapore I thought I’d email the hotel to request an early check in, and to please request something special for our anniversary, and the arrival if possible. When I looked at the check in details I almost fell over, when I saw that check in was at 3pm.
First I received a hopeful reply from a lovely lady by the name of Juliana, she was willing to help us. But soon after I received another reply from Veronica in reservation’s, she assured me that there was no way we could check in before 3pm, there was no way she wanted to help us. My heart sank!!
We arrived at the hotel, at around 11am. When I asked again about an early check in I was shut down pretty firmly. We were able to leave our bags at the hotel and were not to be back till 3pm.
My girlfriend and I spent the day walking all over Paris doing as many sights as possible.
Finally at 3pm we went back to our 4star hotel and checked in. We finally arrived at the room, I was in a world of shock!! The room was the smallest shoe box of a room I had ever seen in my whole life. I had payed $310 AUD. I was appalled!! My bathroom in my 1 bedroom apartment back home, is bigger than the whole hotel room. My girlfriend could not believe I had chosen this place. And neither could I. They had done absolutely nothing to make our visit special on our anniversary. Made us walk around Paris all day long, after a 15 hour flight, and had ripped us off for $310. I do not know how this hotel could possibly be rated 4 star. I strongly urge this hotel to be properly looked at, because the star rating for me was 1.5 stars maximum!!
The only 1 thing that was good about this place.. was the breakfast. I will never go back, and would not ever recommend you to go there. And I hope that this place is reviewed properly and the star rating is changed to 1 star. I also hope that Veronica gets a job in the Police force, and that Juliana is promoted to general manager.
Never again guys.
A small boutique hotel walkable from Gare du Nord. The room is small but very clean and got everything we need for just 1 night before catching Eurostar train the morning after. They have all toiletries including a decent hair dryer & bathrooms but no slippers. There are hangers with clips and complimentary drinks.
