How to Get There
This review is based on the overall booking process and customer service.
I booked a double via the hotel website for a good price but the booking was swiftly cancelled by the hotel with no explanation. I requested an explanation and finally was told they do not accept a certain credit card even though they state the opposite on their official website. Well fair enough but you should simply offer alternative payment option and apologise for the incorrect information on the website. You shouldn't simply unilaterally cancel any booking without valid grounds. That is simply bad and indifferent customer service.
The hotel didn't offer any alternative payment option at this point so I needed to send another inquiry and request to use another alternative payment method. They told me to either send them my card details or make another booking. No-one in one's right mind is going to email their card details so I made another booking. Here comes the best part, at this point they were requesting almost a double rate per night and refused to honor the previous booking rate which they unilaterally cancelled without valid gounds. They twice offered me a lower rate which was still considerably higher than the original one so I ended up cancelling my booking.
I recommend you to avoid this hotel due to indifferent customer service and spineless reservation policy. There are plenty of similar or better options in the area and closer to city center where you'll find better service and won't risk your booking to be unilaterally cancelled by the hotel without valid grounds.
Hotel is located about 2 blocks from the bus stop and 4 blocks from the train station. Rooms are clean, but very small, especially the room with the toilet in it. The small room with the toilet was located about 20 feet from the actual bathroom with the sink and shower. They do make it known that they charge an additional tax of 2.53 euros per person per night and 15 euros per person per day for a breakfast that is definitely not worth 15 euros.
What they don't advertise is that they scam guests when calling taxis or drinking coffee. There's a coffee machine but as soon as you press the button they ask for your room number to charge you for it unlike in the US, where coffee & breakfast is usually free.
Do not have the hotel call you a taxi. This is the biggest scam they have. A taxi from the right side of Paris (where the hotel is located) to Charles DeGaulle Airport is supposed to be 55 euros for up to 4 people and 4 euros extra for each additional person according to the established rate posted in all taxis and on-line. The hotel scam artist receptionist will say that they cannot find any taxis at the 55 euro rate even if you supply her with a business card from an honest taxi company. Then they will pretend to call another taxi company and start speaking in French, but since that taxi company is only 75 euros, that taxi company will not have any taxis available. Finally the scam artist receptionist proceeds to call the 85 euro taxi company, and all of a sudden that taxi is at the hotel's enterance 10 minutes early. When I questioned the 85 euro taxi driver he shows me a text that the hotel has an established rate with them. The hotel likewise points the finger at the taxi company, but I am 1000% certain the hotel is getting a monetary kickback from the taxi company in order to scam their hotel guests. Any hotel doing business in Paris for as long as Eden knows the established flat rate to airports and Eden is definitely not looking out for it's guests, and instead illicitly profiting from guests' lack of knowledge of French language and Paris taxi policies.
The area was not too far a walk to the Eiffel tower (20mins), one subway ride to the Louvre (Tuileries side) and one bus ride to the Notre Dame cathedral so it's very central.
I have stayed in other parts of the city so I would say the area is safe for first time visitors. There are a variety of restaurants near the hotel to choose from and a Carrefour (supermarket) just up on the street. Breakfast is pretty basic for the price.
Eden Hotel is the place to be in Paris, tastefully furnished with comfortable rooms and quiet also prices are very interesting.
I enjoyed my breakfast every mornings.
The Staff is very NICE.
I'm glad that we picked Hotel Eden on Rue Blomet. It is located in a quiet area near small, quaint cafes. The hotel staff are very friendly. The rooms are clean and air conditioned!! Super Shuttle is available from Charles De Gaulle Airport at a reasonable cost. You can also use Uber and the public bus station.
