I stayed at the Hotel de Varenne for a month this April, and I can honestly say it became my home-away-from-home while I was in Paris. It is elegant and refined without being stuffy or pretentious, and its location in the 7th arrondissement, is perfect. It is far enough away from the tourist crowds, making it perfect for those like me who appreciate peace and quiet after a hard day's sightseeing, but located within mere minutes to the Rodin and D'Orsay Museums, and close enough either on foot or via the metro to virtually any attraction in Paris your heart could desire.

I stayed in a superior double on the top floor with a view of the Eiffel Tower and the charming courtyard, and, although I was traveling solo, it would have been fine for two people. The bathroom was luxurious and spacious by European standards, and I loved both being able to open the room windows and get fresh air. Also loved the option of having room service for the great continental breakfast that includes fresh squeezed orange juice--and that it's served until noon.

Last but certainly not least, the staff was just great. It's especially impressive that the owner, Monsieur Pommier was on site nearly every day I was there, and that he and the front desk staff even bring up your breakfast tray or deliver laundry when needed. As a solo traveler on this trip, security was especially important to me, and in addition to the very safe location of the hotel--it's near the National Assembly, so there's good security in the area--I felt well looked after by folks at the Hotel de Varenne. Special mentions to Jerome and Beatrice---and Olivier, so sorry I missed you on my last day!

If I have any quibbles--and I really don't--I agree with several other reviewers that the deep, steep European tubs are a bit challenging to get in an out of if you are not used to them, so it's good to know grab bars are available on request. This isn't publicized, so perhaps the hotel might want to let visitors know about that option when they arrive. All in all a great experience, and I hope the Varenne will continue to be my Paris "home" for years to come.

What a wonderful and quaint hotel in a most beautiful section of Paris. We stayed here to celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary. It is tucked away in a quieter section of the city, yet conveniently close to everything. While the rooms are small, they are very clean have all the amenities we needed. My favorite feature was the window that opened onto a small courtyard. I woke up every day to birds chirping. The daily breakfast of croissants, bread, jams, assorted yogurt, coffee, and the most wonderful juice was an absolute delight. The staff were so accomodating and pleasant. We cannot say enough good things about this wonderful hotel, and we hope to return someday.

Lovely stay!

Just returned from our trip to Paris and Hotel de Varenne was a great experience ! Honestly there is nothing bad to say about this hotel. When you first walk up- the courtyard is charming. Everyone at the front desk is friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The A/C worked well (some of the days were pretty warm when we stayed). Our bathroom was pretty large also, much larger than other hotels I’ve stayed in in Europe. The cleaning staff did a nice job on the room daily. We really enjoyed the breakfast (large basket of baked goods, yogurts, juice, coffee/tea/ hot chocolate). We enjoyed eating out in the courtyard one day but most of the time had it delivered to our room while we got ready. It was great to have that option. The location of the hotel is also excellent. Close enough to get to all the sights but far enough that you can enjoy peace and quiet at night. The street had many shops such as a bakery and a grocery store. We really loved this hotel and would 100% recommend a stay at Hotel de Varenne!

We were traveling to Paris and found this hotel online. We had such a wonderful experience. I am extremely fussy about cleanliness and this hotel was did not disappoint. It was very clean, the staff was so friendly and helpful, and they actually have 220v outlets! We had a truly lovely time!
