19th-century Paris townhouse hotel with sleek contemporary decor, just moments from the Champs-Elysées

The Lowdown

On a peaceful Paris street, moments from the Champs-Elysées and the Arc de Triomphe, Hotel Balmoral is perfectly placed for exploring the city’s best sights. Located in a 19th-century Haussmann-style building, the hotel has plenty of period features, including wrought iron balconies and a small courtyard garden. The sleek lobby (which doubles as the bar) is a mix of elegance and contemporary decor; expect plush cream sofas, patterned cushions, a modern firepit and abstract sculptures. The spacious guestrooms are decked out in silky peach-cream tones, while bright scatter pillows (in oranges, yellows and sea-blues) keep things stylish. Descamps bed linens add a touch of luxury; opt for a higher category room for views of the courtyard and plush Egyptian cotton bathrobes.

In the Area

Hotel Balmoral is within walking distance of plenty of iconic Paris neighborhoods and sights. Climb the nearby Arc de Triomphe for an unparalleled view of Paris’s main axis, which runs from the courtyard of the Louvre to La Défense. Also close by is the Champs-Elysées, full of popular boutiques and stores; make time for some world famous macarons from the beautiful Ladurée patisserie. At night take your nearest and dearest for a meal at the celebrated Fouquet’s restaurant. A favorite with Parisian celebs, including the current president, it maintains the standards of its glorious past.

Stylish rooms and reception area. Attentive and helpful staff.

Our room overlooked a central courtyard. Compact but good amenities.

We didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment on food.

Very close to metro station and an easy walk to Arc de Triomphe and Champs Elysee.

Great location with excellent service

Perfect location 100 metres from the Arc De Triophme, Metro at your doorstep, Champs Elysee within easy access, a variety of great restaurants within 500 metres of the hotel. Service at the hotel excellent very helpful staff. Good variety of breakfast food. I could not fault this hotel at all. Bed comfortable, bathroom small but adequate but the shower was very large.

Great location, very nice hotel

This hotel is located almost in the shadow of the Arc De Triumph, however, because it is not in the same "district" as the Champs Elysees, the rooms were priced much less than other similarly located hotels. We stayed in a wonderful room with a king sized bed and a nicely sized bathroom (with both A/C and a hair dryer...which is rare in Europe) for around 220 Euros a night including taxes. Rooms had robes, slippers, plush towels (no washcloths of course...but---pro tip---they do have washcloths in the guest rest room on the first floor for use as hand towels so if you need one, you can always get one there and bring it to your room!) and comfortable beds. No view to speak of but you are a two minute walk from the Arc De Triumph and the Champs Elysees so you can get all the views you need there. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is available for an additional price but they also offer coffee, citron presse (lemon juice and water), fruit and small pastries (try the mini muffins, they have chocolate or caramel inside!) available for free throughout the day. Paris was unseasonably hot when we visited (August 2018) so the AC in both the lobby and the rooms was wonderful. If we return to Paris, we will return to the Hotel Balmoral!

I stayed here with my family (2 adults, 2 kids under 10) for 5 nights. Lovely stay. The staff was wonderful, and our suite was great. The staff was attentive to all our needs, and made us feel personally welcome throughout. Breakfast was lovely. Very close to the Arc de Triomphe, and Champs de Elyssee. Plenty of dining nearby. Highly recommend!

Stayed in two rooms with my family of 4 over 3 days. Rooms were ready when we arrived and they were adjacent. Clean and well appointed, plenty of room for our needs. Breakfast in the morning is wonderful, lots of delicious options. Staffed by a hard working young woman who made every morning a pleasure. Hotel is walking distance to Arc de Triomphe and the Champs Elysees. Staff are courteous and welcoming, we highly recommend!
