How to Get There
We stayed in Hotel Aiglon for 1 night - staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the room was huge, and the balcony was fabulous! The only minus was the bathroom, the drain was partly blocked, so the water didn't leave the tub. Also the shower was quite small (we are both taller than 1,75m so couldn't fully stand underneath).
Blvd Raspail a central location and easy access to Metro and shopping in the left bank . Last year was our first and this year we returned. The area is safe and close to museums and Jardin Luxembourg, all of which we never tire. The local brasseries are good and not out to empty your wallet since good value is the order of the day.
Traveling with our adult daughter, my wife and I appreciated the reasonably price family suite that provided separate sleeping quarters for us and our daughter. The location is very nice in central Montparnasse across from the famous cemetery with ample shopping, dining, and sightseeing within a modest walking radius. Staff was uniformly excellent and breakfast buffet very, very nice.
Everything in the hotel was perfect, until my wallet full of cash (dollars) went missing and was never found. We had everything else in the safe and was untouched, i left my wallet in a back pack since we were rushing to get the day started and the following morning we turned the room inside out and the wallet was no where to be found ( large wallet). The hotel has a policy that you must leave your room key at the front desk whenever stepping out... Coincidence, I think not!!!
I'm suspicious of glowing reviews. I always think the person writing them has low standards or they're friends with the owner. I'm neither of those and I loved this place!
We stayed in a two room junior suite with a baby. We had windows facing three directions. Lots of natural light (which if you've stayed in Paris before is not common)
Lovely bathroom with clean tile. Comfortable bed. Quiet. The pillows were too high/fluffy for my taste, but that's based on personal preference (and I never complained)
Friendly staff with welcoming lobby (and lots of Paris guidebooks to read). Nicely updated and cared for interior but still maintained vintage charms (handles, doorways, staircase, etc.)
Delicious breakfast with a great variety of choices. And the breakfast is open til 11am for those with jet lag!
Nice soaps and lotions.
Reasonable value (for Paris)
It's in Montparnasse, which is a hike from the Seine and the main tourist attractions (D'Orsay, Louvre, etc.). If it's your very first time to Paris or if you aren't into walking, you might want to stay closer to the city center. I, however, appreciated the neighborhood vibe and spent a day just walking around the 14th.
I've done Air B and B and about 4-5 other hotels in Paris, and this has been my best experience so far.
