Beautiful room but terrible experience on checking in
Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Through Agoda I made a booking for a Studio Luxe at Citidines Opera. On checking in I questioned and was confirmed that I was getting a studio Luxe.
I later realised that the room was different to that chosen and checked on the website and had been given a lesser "Studio"room.
I told Alexsia in reception I had booked and paid for a studio Luxe. she asked for proof and I showed a photo of my booking confirmation stating Studio Luxe with the price.
She advised they didn't have Studio Luxe and get some more proof of what I booked. I showed her the photos from the Agoda website, on my computer and she confirmed they were Studio Couture which was the same as Luxe.
I thought that would have been the end of it, but no... she said the booking is from Booking.com, so no the Agoda confirmation was insufficient and the price was not enough and I needed to have a confirmation with the price on it. The original photo shown to her with the price on it also stated that the booking would be in the name of Booking.com.
Eventually, several hours later after I had complained to Agoda who contacted her I finally got into the room I booked. She requested more money which Agoda refunded to me.
In all my travels, I have never had to produce so much proof of my booking, be continually questioned and then to be advised that the total amount was insufficient for the room. Those figures were taken directly from a website and several websites all had a similar price. I question how so many websites could have all got the price wrong. It really did take the shine off staying at Citidines Opera.
I love the room that I finally got, but to take so many hours to get it, and go through such an inquisition, so based on that could not stay here again nor could I ever recommend the property.
I'm still scratching my head wondering why Citidines would want an ordinary staff member to act in such a strange manner to guests checking in????

Great experience!

I arrived early and walked to the hotel from Gare du Nord. Yes, it's close enough. Even though it was before 9 a.m. the room was ready! That was huge. Stove-top, microwave, dishes, fridge, dishwasher. The toilet was separate from the bathroom. Bed was very comfortable. Actually brilliant. Location is fantastic! Walkable to the major attractions. Would definitely stay again!

Great Space

This is an apartment style 'hotel', and they describe it to be, so there shouldn't be confusion as to why they don't offer same services as a traditional hotel. I loved my stay here. The room was bigger than I expected and it included refrigerator, sink, microwave, and dishes. It is in a good location - close to many restaurants that you can walk to, and very close to other attractions. There is a bar/club called Le Biz that is right at the entrance of the hotel that is convenient to grab a drink, which proved to be very fun at night. The room was clean, staff were pleasant and free breakfast was sufficient and tasted good. I enjoyed my stay here and it is a great option if you are staying for a week or longer in Paris as it is like a small apartment. I would stay here again!

Nice place in a great location.

First time in Paris with the family, we have 2 young kids. It's close to lots of restaurants, and a metro station which is easy and is what we mostly used to get to all the sights. Free coffee and water was good in the lobby. There was a bit of street noise at night and could here some noise from the other rooms, so if your a light sleeper like me you may have trouble sleeping. Otherwise great place.
