So disappointed

Service at breakfast and in bar inattentive and lazy, staff seem to have no interest at all. Room noisy from generator outside and service road. 26 euro breakfast is shamefully poor. Certainly would not go back.

Most amazing reception, beautiful place and setting

After being astray in the center of Montpellier and having booked another hotel (which we could not reach by car), we found this lovely Domaine, a Relais & Chateaux, and luckily there was a beautiful and warming room waiting for us.
The night manager, Mr Johanes was so kind and welcoming that we certainly will come back again for a longer stay!

5 star building doesn’t mean 5 star hotel

Don’t panic if you approach from Montpellier and find yourself in a half built industrial park! You will think how can this improve, then suddenly you turn off a roundabout and you are in a different world.

The hotel is just beautiful. You are surrounded by vines and the gardens are wonderful. Even the car park has its own beauty!

I will never forget the smell from the blossom of the various plants.

The room was excellent and well appointed. Tip: The Wi-fi was poor in the room, but at its strongest in the bar next to he pool.

The hotel has two massive shortcomings:

1) Is it a conference centre or a quality hotel? During the days we stayed there were hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of delegates. One night we couldn’t actually get into the hotel as everything was clogged by maybe six full sized buses and random cars dumped. The security guards were on the edge of being rude to us.

Being a conference centre is not compatible with being a peaceful quality hotel.

2) The service was generally poor, especially in the bar area. Every drink was slow, even though the bar was nearly deserted. In addition we suffered from forgotten orders, a glass dropped on my wife’s foot! One night it took 20 minutes to take the top off a bottle of beer and deliver it. At that time there were four customers and six staff!

We asked reception to recommend a restaurant In Montpellier and book it for us. This threw the lady into a panic and in the end we told her not to bother.

I was watching the Grand Prix in the room when a member of staff let themselves in without knocking. As it happens it didn’t matter....but that’s not quality hotel standard is it?

On the plus side the food in the bistro was lovely. The breakfast staff were efficient. The stand out employee was the guy who greeted us and helped with the bags.

One final tip. As you exit through the automated gates and your satnav says turn left don’t. Turn right and let it recalculate, it’ll save some pain.

The job of a five star hotel is to make you believe anything is possible. Unfortunately this hotel misses this mark by a margin.

If you are thinking my review is a bit harsh check the reviews on booking dot com.

As a stop over on the way to Spain we selected this wine estate outside Montpellier. Very nicely renovated and with a beautiful restaurant overlooking the wine yard, outdoor and indoor pool and spa. So far so good for the brick and mortar.
However, the in-house sommelier was very confused and wanted to charge 20 euros per person for a tasting of a bottle that cost 14 euros? Then he had run to the reception to get cash return. The front office was even less competent and charged two breakfasts which we didn’t have. She even said that a refund is not possible until the GM had to show up to clear the situation. All this left us with a bad taste that could be easily fixed with better training and attention to details.
Too bad.

Top class

I chose this place to recharge my Tesla while staying in Montpellier. It has several superchargers set up with same norms as other Tesla superchargers. Convenient as Montpellier lacks superchargers. But this should not be the only reason to choose Verchant for your place to stay. Room are very comfortable. If you need an accessible room, the one I stayed was top class. Good variety of excellent restaurents in the donaine. Breakfast buffet provides diversity and excellent food. Really top class.
