A relaxing place away from it all

We love visiting Maui! We have been going yearly since 2011 and have stayed at Ka'anapali Beach Club since 2012. The staff are so nice and they remember us and now our son, each year we return. They have done many upgrades over the years and continue to improve the property. It is further down Ka'anapali beach, so further away from the bustle of Marriott, Hyatt etc and a short 5 minute drive to Whalers village and quick walk to "Airport Beach". We are returning this summer and can't be more excited to sit and relax.

There are no fights for pool chairs, you can always find one. The gym is small size but has all equipment required and it is in good working order and the machines are newer. The cardio equipment faces the ocean! The rooms are comfortable and spacious. We always use the pull out sofa (either us or friends sleeping on it). The mattress is actually comfortable and about 2.5 times the thickness of a "normal"sofa bed mattress. The bbq tools can be acquired from the front desk each time you need them and they also have extra cooking appliances that you can borrow. The fridges are full size so you can fit your food and drink easily. Also, their valet parking is free :)

We have traveled as a couple, a family of 3 and with our extended family.

Amazing Maui Hotel
Reviewed 1 week ago

I was a little apprehensive of staying here for a family vacation in April 2019, because of the reviews. However, all of that dissipated once I checked in.

There is truth to the reviews about the eroding beach and the outdated rooms. But, the phenomenal staff, like Juanita, at the front desk makes this hotel the gem that it is.

The room: the room is in need of an overhaul. I know the resort just finished doing refurbishments, but I honestly couldn’t tell what they updated. I know they plan to do furniture and flooring renovations in the fall, which are greatly needed. The tile grout looks dirty, and some of the furniture is broken or has a lot of wear-and-tear, but the room was clean, big, and the bed was very comfortable. Despite the aging room furnishings, this was perfect for our family of three.

The grounds: the hotel was beautiful, in a great location, and had all the amenities we could have wanted. The pool was fantastic, the hotel restaurant was good (but definitely better options nearby), and the hotel staff was top notch.

The beach: Yes, the beach is eroded, but there was still plenty of space to swim, snorkel and play in the sand. Often, if we went down to the beach before sunset, the tide was low, which gave us ample beach. We went to Black rock a few times, the beach in front of the Sheraton, which also seems to have some eroding too, which seemed to be common around Maui. We never felt like we didn’t have enough beach nearby, so, this wasn’t as big of a problem as I thought it would be according to the reviews.

The timeshare spiel: I never got roped into a timeshare presentation. In fact, I never was approached by any staff, ever.

I definitely plan to come back to Kaanapali Beach Club when I return to Maui, and I look forward to seeing the updates rooms. This is a wonderful gem on Maui, and I enjoyed every moment of it.

The perfect place to stay on Maui!

We love Ka'anapali Beach Club for many reasons. First, you don't even need to rent a car. SpeediShuttle got us from the airport to the resort. Everything we need is a short walk away...grocery store, great restaurants, etc. To go a bit further, there's a local bus that runs along the coast to Lahaina for $4 all day! What a bargain. And the resort is located at the north entrance to the Boardwalk that runs along the beaches in front of the many resorts that line the Ka'anapoli coast. There are many excursions that will pick you up in the lobby. All this, and the resort hotel itself is gorgeous, with great restaurants and beautiful pools. We will be coming back again and again!

Our best place to visit, year after year, for 15 years.

We have been members of the Ka'anapali Beach Club since 2004. The resort continues to listen to our suggestions and act on them. We have continually had perfect vacations at this resort, and we appreciate and are used to being treated like valued owners. We are welcomed back by the personnel, we know most of them well by now, and we look forward to our return visits. We had a problem with our refrigerator making noise, and they brough up a new one within a half hour of my mentioning the noise. The Serta sleeper sofa is the most comfortable sofa bed we have ever used. When we bring guests, we let them have the big bed in the bedroom, and we look forward to using the sleeper sofa. The O'Hana Bar and Grill and the coffee shop are our go-to activity, other than all of the many experiences on Maui. The new adult jacuzzi and the all new workout room are perfect. New carpet throughout updates the resort. The beach access was terribly eroded a few years ago by a storm. The resort is doing everything they can to fix this situation. There is access down the walkway a bit, but still the location is right on the beach for hearing the sound of the ocean and taking in the spectacular sunsets from the open air bar and grill.
