How to Get There
This condo complex is really nice. Amazing views from our condo 8D. Extremely clean and well taken care of. The pool has amazing views, really nice and friendly staff that make you feel like you’re friends. The food wasn’t bad for resort food. Drinks were great:) We went through Resortica Hawaii. Our unit came with the Hilton pool pass but we didn’t use it. We tried one day but the main pool was closed, the other pools didn’t appeal to us and the food we ordered from the lagoon restaurant was blah.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this condo (10B) for 10 days! We also stayed in the next condo (11A) last year which drew us back. If you’re looking for r & r this is the spot or if you love to golf with a spectacular view, this is it! This is a gated community & we felt very secure. The condo was clean, filled with amenities. All you need is a quick trip to the grocery store or farmer’s market. The property manager, Shayden I believe, was very friendly & was knowledgeable. Lots of great restaurants in Waikoloa. Kona & the airport are only a short drive away. This is an amazing island! We’ll be back. Aloha & A Hui Kākou
Overall we enjoyed our stay at Hali'i Kai. The location is tough to beat, it is basically right on the ocean!
Our main issue with the place was the cleaning - upon checking into our condo we found some really gross garbage (in the recycling bin!) under the kitchen sink. It looks like it had been there for days, smelled terrible. Masterbath room had hair all over the shower floor. Underneath the couches in the living room we found (actually our baby found) all kinds of garbage and old food. Most of the 2 bedroom condo was pretty clean but what is mentioned above was a bad first impression.
The condo did have nice A/C, fully stocked kitchen with newer appliances, mostly carpet and a nice view off of the back porch.
Overall Halii Kai feels a bit outdated compared to other resorts next door such as Fairway Villas and Kings Land. The pool area is nice, but again feels outdated and could be a lot cleaner. Sunset views from the pool area are tough to beat! Food at the restaurant was surprisingly good for a resort. We had fish and chips, sliders, prime rib, veggie curry all really good! BEST part of the pool area is the bartender Kathy, super friendly and just a pleasure to be around!!
Other 2 stars would be been given if the place was cleaner overall and if things like the pool furniture and our BBQ on the back porch were not so outdated. Lastly, great place for families - we felt very safe with our kids there! Also no beach super close by but we knew that when we rented the condo.
