Say the name Chamonix and any skier or snowboarder worth their salt will tell you that this is a legendary resort, but there’s more to this place than the white stuff. With breathtaking vistas, a dizzying array of adrenaline-charged activities and rugged mountains coated in lush greenery, this magical mountain location is equally alluring throughout the rest of the year too.
RockyPop Hotel is the newest addition to Chamonix’s hospitality scene, and ups the ante on laid-back leisure with its stunning views and fun-filled attitude to your alpine stay away. Unwind after a day of hiking with your choice of the cuisines on offer from the restaurant’s three food-court-style counters, before finding yourself in the midst of a table-football tournament, or sipping a beer over a live band in the bar. Guest rooms here are charismatic and cosy, with pops of red, postcards on the walls and plenty of amenities to create a real home from home to suit everyone.
How to Get There
Visited here on Halloween for dinner, great atmosphere and music. Efficient friendly service, enjoyable meal. Would definitely recommend. Staff all dressed for the occasional- Halloween, even the musicians
Fantastic hotel that's really great value. Got a super deal for one night. Breakfast is phenomenal. Staff are really helpful and dinner was perfect for the price. The room was very clean with nice ensuit bathroom.
We were lucky enough to have a room with a view, looking straight up to the Aiguille du Midi, Mont Blanc du Tacul and Mont Blanc itself. It is quite amazing to see the snow-covered peaks rising up so high just across the road. The Rocky Pop has perhaps the best interior design of any hotel I've ever stayed in - quirky and fun with any number of entertaining little features. It's comfortable and very clean but relaxed and informal - not by any means a grand hotel so if you are looking for ostentatious luxury you should go elsewhere, but if you want a really friendly family hotel this is the place for you. There are excellent games for children - two table football tables, two ping pong tables and a children's playground. You can eat inside or out - both areas are pleasant and appealingly designed. If you eat outside, you may well be lucky enough to catch the Alpenglow on a fine evening. As an added bonus, there is free tea and coffee in the lobby - typical of the friendly cheerful atmosphere of this excellent place. Les Houches is about 10 or 15 minutes by bus from Chamonix and there is a very reliable (but crowded - standing room only) half-hourly bus service that runs till late in the evening, or you can walk ten minutes to Taconnaz train station for the much more comfortable train (with plenty of seats and excellent views of the mountains). All in all, the Rocky Pop is a great place to stay, especially for families with children, who will love the games and friendly atmosphere.
