About a 90-minute drive from New Delhi, this restful retreat is a popular weekend escape thanks to its stellar amenities and proximity to Damdama Lake for boating and adventure sports. Set on 20 leafy acres, the hotel features bold, contemporary artwork, midcentury-style furniture and gigantic floor-to-ceiling windows. The 78 rooms and suites are done in a soothing green and taupe color scheme, with polished woods and black lacquered furniture, and all feature generous private decks or balconies. The contemporary bathrooms come with egg-shaped washbasins, gray slate walls and glass cubicle rain showers. Enjoy sweeping garden views and an international menu at Buzz, or dine on modern Chinese fare in Sian’s intimate, softly lit dining room. Try a relaxing ayurvedic massage at the state-of-the-art spa or relax with a glass of bubbly at the space age cocktail lounge, Swirl.
In the Area
Damdama Lake is a playground for Delhi’s jet set. Weekenders chase adrenaline highs with adventure sports like parasailing, bungee jumping and hot air ballooning; or you can simply bask in the sun on the lake’s grassy banks. For a health boost, ask your concierge about planning a trip to the natural hot springs in the nearby town of Sohna. The sulphurous waters are said to have mystical and medicinal qualities, especially during a solar or lunar eclipse. There are loads of shopping options nearby, too; for high-quality saris, carpets and baskets, make a beeline for Surajkund Crafts Mela. Some of the region’s finest craftsmen come here to sell their wares.
How to Get There
This was our 3rd stay in this hotel in as many years. On earlier occasions, we visited in April and December and this time during monsoons. December is the ideal month to visit this beautiful property with the Aravalis’ in the background as one can soak in the sun and enjoy the adventure activities. However, during monsoons, everything is lush green and a treat for our eyes.
Being a long weekend, it was packed but the service didn’t suffer. Compliments to Ishwar who managed the restaurant pretty well ! We had organised a small birthday celebration in the bar and Dharmendra did a great job of mixing our drinks.
They served complimentary tea and snacks in the evening followed by a game of Tambola. I was surprised to see people with their pets and this is a rare for a hotel to allow so. The kids tried their hand at the adventure activities when the incessant drizzling finally stopped.
Despite being a fairly large property, their pool is small.
A big thanks to Amal for making our stay enjoyable.
This is the second time I have visited this resort and it's been a pleasurable stay like 1st time. It is a beautiful property and what makes it best is its staff.
They pamper you with their best in class services.
The front staff Ms. Rimjhim (hope I have written her name correctly) was courteous and I would say is an asset to Taj, thanks to her for making our stay memorable.
I had a great experience,my whole family enjoyed alot the hospitality was great especially the manager Naveen Negi from front desk was very helpful and I was impressed by the way he helped us out I would recommend this property to all.
