How to Get There
We have just returned from our 2nd visit to Porto Sani with our 3 year old Daughter. When it comes to booking holidays we are quite fussy and I spend an annoying amount of time researching and deciding where to go, also we have never stayed anywhere twice as we like to explore new places and always end up searching for somewhere better!
Porto Sani has stopped us in our tracks, it ticks all of the boxes and more. There is simply zero to complain about. All the staff are very polite, helpful and welcoming. The service is made to feel very personalised and nothing is too much trouble. Our Daughter Daisy who has only just turned 3 years old adore's Linda, this is down to Linda's lovely nature and gentle approach. Linda also liaised with me prior to our stay as I had a few requests - again I am grateful for this. Our Daughter is shy and can get anxious very easily, but the staff won her over and needless to say she cried when she left as didn't want to return home.
George by the pool made us feel very welcome and he made lots of effort with Daisy, even took being fired at with a water gun on the chin....
The food is outstanding, the beach and whole resort is very well looked after and we have no hesitation to book again for 2020 with immediate effect.
Our 10th trip to Porto Sani... but our first time with FOUR kids in tow (Ages 10, 8, 6, and 9 months)... again we were nothing but absolutely delighted and truly happy with our stay.
From the impeccable service, amenities, food, people, kids club, and all the extras.
Some unique things from this year's trip were: one of our kids finally learned to bike from one-on-one lessons from the bike shop, the really fabulous food from Tomata restaurant in the Marina, our oldest kids loved the 'crazy couch' activity from the Kids Club, and we were grateful like every year with the overall great hospitality that makes this our 'Happy Place.
The manager Mr. 'Sakis' Spyridopoulos sets the vision for the highest quality of care & service; he is often seen throughout the resort talking to guests and his team. This year we had a lot of help and support from guest relations manager Linda & executive assistant manager Christina.
Special mention to Kirill who on the days when we were lounging by the pool, would make really genuine efforts to make sure we were taken care, especially with this year's special dietary requirements.
As per usual we won't go into too much details, as all the reviews here speak for themselves. What I will leave you is more photos of the wonderful food throughout the hotel and Marina, all of which is part of the dine-around program.
Again Porto Sani from its people, amenities, service, and quality remains the standard for which we judge everywhere else. It is our very much our 'Happy Place' =)
This was our second visit to Porto Sani, and yet again we had a wonderful holiday, this time with Luca, our six-month-old son. The resort, facilities and setting are outstanding, but what really makes the holiday special is the service: all the staff have been very friendly and did everything they could to ensure we had an amazing time. Particularl thanks go to: Anna and Christina who looked after our every need, even providing an owl to help Luca sleep; Chris for his exceptional service at the pool; Giota, who greeted us with a smile and a warm welcome every morning at breakfast; Magda and Joanna for giving Luca lots of hugs and smiles and checking that everything was OK; and finally Athanasios, who clearly cares that all his guests have an exceptional holiday. If you are looking for a holiday where you can feel totally relaxed with children of any age, Porto Sani is the place to go. We were particularly pleased to find a baby menu which allowed our son to experiment with flavours and textures; a crèche where we were confident he would be looked after by friendly, experienced childcare professionals; and an equally good babysitting service. We will be booking again as soon as we return to the UK.
Booking a stay here is simply the best thing we have done since having children. If you have pre school children I would (and have) recommended this hotel to everyone. This hotel would also be amazing for older children and extended family holidays. If I didn't have children I might choose Sani Dunes but we do, so my review is from that perspective.
The best thing about Porto Sani is the staff, not because everything else isn't amazing, but because really, the staff are the best of anywhere I have been. They make the children feel welcome everywhere, welcome them to the play table at breakfast, ask them what they would like (instead of addressing the parents) involve them in dancing in the evening and are always there when you need anything. On the beach there are staff who appear from nowhere to out a towel on your sun lounger, bring drinks and even offered to bring my son a bucket and spade. The kids club staff are intelligent, kind and obviously great at their jobs, my children both loved going! The reception staff offered to bring some milk for my son, warmed it, and didn't charge us on the first night. They make it possible for two tired parents to actually relax, spend quality time as a family (while staff take care of food, cleaning, towels etc etc).
We had half board and the choice of places to eat on half board was great. Most places do a dine around menu so you can get a 3 or 4 course meal in your included allowance. Breakfast was unlimited so we didn't generally spend much on lunch. Drinks prices are a bit obscene, expect to pay 24 euros for a bellini, but wine and beer aren't too bad given its a resort. To be honest, we aren't big drinkers and so much else is included that we didn't really mind. I would also add that many of the places to drink have views over pale sand beaches, clear sea and fantastic service so in that context you would generally expect to pay more anyway.
There is also quite a lot included in the price. The high ropes course is really good, quite high in places even for those of us who are reasonably adventurous. There are lower courses for children. The yoga and aerobics were also good, although there were generally only a couple of others there in May, despite the hotel being full. Price also includes entertainment, golf cart rides around the resort (handy if your child falls asleep somewhere and you don't want to carry them back), classes, kids football and kids club for over 4s. We also did a morning of scuba diving which was great fun. Greece isn't the carribbean in terms of fish but the visibility was great and the water was fine with a warm wetsuit even in early June.
Rooms were spotless, cleaned well and regularly, and had a birds nest on the balcony so you could hear little chicks as you drunk your morning coffee.
We went for a walk one day when the children were in kids club, saw a sea turtle, swum in the sea and had a beer while listening to chill out music and watching the ocean. This just isn't something we have even vaguely done since having children but Sani make it possible.
Thank you sani, amazing week!
Only negative I would say is that we didn't like Sani beach buffet restaurant. Just quite large, noisy and a bit chaotic compared to the rest of the resort. Wouldn't recommend it with so many other options. In general Porto sani just seems nicer than sani beach, you can still use the facilities at sani beach if you stay elsewhere, including the splash park which our boys loved, but Porto sani is just calmer. We preferred the calm.
I am a true believer in never going back as there are so many brilliant places in the world to visit. We booked up for our third visit the day we got back from our latest brilliant experience at the end of May.
Porto is amazing. Ethhimis went out of his way to make this a special experience yet again.
The best thing about Sani though is the variety. On both holidays we've not been to the same restaurants twice.
The standard of the food is amazing.
There are some very wealthy people on the resort but everyone is treat the same.
The entertainment in the Garden theatre on an evening is very good. Jono is a a very funny compare, backed up by dancer Reiss. I mention them especially as they went out of there way to make my children have a great time.
We've been to some great places but are now struggling to go else where.
