How to Get There
We were recommend Porto Sani by friends who have been there a number of times. We’d had a disappointing trip to France the year before when the weather had been awful so wanted guaranteed sunshine and were told this would tick the box. It did! From the minute we arrived the staff were courteous, kind, smiley and always on the ball. They were simply amazing with my boys (6ry old twins) and equally attentive to my husband and I. The food was super (we had one moderate meal) and the choice excellent. The activities for the kids were plentiful and they throughly enjoyed themselves. Our room was lovely but if there was one thing that slightly let it down was our terrace / small outside seating area overlooked the road between the resort and the marina so as well as not being the prettiest sight we also had to listen to a lot of air conditioning units and kitchen fans - hence there was also a little bit of a greasy food smell on occasion. However we didn't spend a huge amount of time in the room so it wasn't the end of the world. We met some really nice people too but it was also as such that if you wanted to keep to yourselves you could without everything being too much in your face. The babysitting on offer was excellent. The sitters were members of staff who worked in the hotel during the day who 9 times out of 10 our boys had met (as had we), so I was more than happy to leave them in charge. This enabled us to take advantage of the restaurants where children were not permitted and we had two delicious suppers. The beach was clean and the staff overseeing things catered to your every need, my husband was really impressed that he had his sunglasses cleaned nearly every day - this was a really nice touch!. In a number of restaurants and on the each there were people stationed to look after the kids while you had a swim or wanted some time out - again another great idea. All in all a very positive experience and we've booked to return for the first week of July again this year and can't wait to go.
We had an amazing stay in Porto Sani with our 15 month old daughter. The facilities and location are excellent with spacious rooms and lovely swimming pools for adults and children. The dine around programme made dining very easy with lots of variety and for us it was definitely paying for full board so we could enjoy meals without worrying about the cost.
Without exception the staff were all wonderful and very welcoming to children. In particular Linda, Margaret, Ioanna and Kyriakos at Porto Sani itself we’re fantastic with our daughter which meal times really enjoyable as she was as entertained as much by them as she was by us!
This was our first attempt at a holiday with two children. We have a two year old and a (then) 12 week old. We travelled a lot with the toddler but I have never stayed anywhere quite so family friendly. The rooms were spacious; the resort was small and well laid out; the staff are so friendly (with the children too) and I felt so comfortable taking the children into restaurants. The restaurants were one of my favourite parts of the holiday as there was so much choice. My favourite was Greek night at Artemis - this is not to be missed. We used the pepper pig crèche for the toddler and she enjoyed going and the staff were knowledgeable and friendly. We had some rain whilst we were there but the children loved the indoor pool and it didn’t dampen the holiday at all. It is expensive, but you get what you pay for and we’ve already booked to return this year with a larger group.
We booked this holiday after a recommendation from a friend. We are so grateful! We absolutely loved Sani, the staff were amazing and could not do enough to help you. The food was nice and there are plenty of different restaurants to choose from.
The kids club is Ofsted rated and our son loved spending some time there. There are play areas, bikes/ scooters for hire, someone even comes around to clean your sunglasses while you sunbathe! Its also full of families so you never worry about your child being the one throwing a tantrum...tomorrow it will be someone else's child!
It is expensive, considering we went outside of school holidays, but it was worth every penny. We're saving up and will come again next year!!
Our fifth stay at Sani resort (previously Beach & Dunes), but our first to Porto Sani. Given most reviews are from families, I was a little worried before arrival that this wasn’t the hotel for couples even in September. I needn’t have worried!
Byblos restaurant is exclusively for adults at breakfast and though we had to book in advance, this is to ensure you get really personal service (only 3 tables available at any one time during our stay). Anything we wanted served at the table in a truly calm, exclusive atmosphere, with lovely views. Though we often ate breakfast at Artemis, the main restaurant, as we didn’t want to commit to a time, we were always offered a table in the Adults section, so no problem wherever we ate. Fantastic choices at both – I loved the eggs Florentine, cooked to order. The waiter Harrys was ultra attentive.
Pool wise, though the main pool was probably only used by families, the Adult one is large with lots of free loungers at any time of day – with, of course, unobtrusive staff always there providing towels, help, bringing drinks etc (‘sun glasses cleaning’ and free fruit at various times). Also, right next to the indoor pool, so when the outdoor water was cool, it was great to have a dip indoors.
In terms of the beach, admittedly a 5 minute walk, but the Asterias beach area is available if you request this at Reception. Really fantastic. Virtually deserted in the afternoon, but you’re given a cool box with water on arrival, a complimentary fruit drink later and again the service is second to none.
In the evenings, as part of the Dine around package, within Porto Sani we ate both at Byblos (a wonderful experience) and the Greek night at Artemis (not to be missed!).
Yet the best thing about Porto Sani is the service. Reception staff all knew us by name and were always keen to make sure everything was perfect for us personally. Special mention to Lynda and Darina, who were outstanding, but whatever their role, all staff were invariably cheerful and helpful.
The only word of warning would be that the rooms do vary. We tried 2 rooms with separate bedroom – one with a super, refurbished bathroom but not so thrilling views and the one we eventually chose – dual aspect balcony (overlooking both pools) but both the shower and bath were very small.
There’s so much to do at Sani, in the past we’ve rarely ventured beyond the wetlands and cliff top walks, but this year we took a taxi to Afitos village during the day. It was well worth the visit – shops, cafés, and excellent photo opportunities.
So another amazing Sani holiday. My husband actually preferred Porto Sani to Dunes, though Dunes has my vote, but Porto Sani is definitely great for couples!
