How to Get There
My review is not going to say anything different from all the other reviews - everything was excellent, especially the staff headed by the wonderful Lilia.
My wife and I had a superior suite which was enormous with two balconies and the biggest bed I have ever seen.
On the subject of the bed, I managed to kick the leg of the bed on our second day whilst chasing my wife around the room and broke my toe which resulted in me hobbling around for most of our time there.
We hired a car for a week and did a good deal of driving. Our favourite places to visit were - Possidi - lovely beach with great tavernas on the sea's edge and the cave at Petrolona.
I will shortly get around to reviewing the restaurants in the village, which for the most part were very goood and excellent value.
I wasn’t going to put a review on here or 5 SPOTS, but it wouldn’t be fair, if I could give it 6 I would. I won’t mention individual staff names as it would be unfair. This place is amazing and it’s all down to the staff. Very quiet location with easy access to a small village. There is no entertainment no water polo no shooting competitions, just pure relaxation and indulgence. The other guests just seem to fuse into the setting, we want to go back AND that’s the problem PEOPLE are getting to know about this place !!!
An excellent boutique hotel for mature couples. The hotel has a good sized pool with plenty of sun beds, chairs and day beds. Afitos is one of a few traditional Greek villages left. It boasts traditional buildings, streets an alleys. There is a good selection of restaurants, bars and shops. There are no clubs or loud music bars.
I found this hotel on Trip Advisor. There are not many hotels which are rated 5 out of 5. The reviews were constantly good and the hotel looked beautiful. It should have been my Husband's turn to pick a holiday, but he too agreed that this hotel looked excellent.
On arrival which was quite late, we were greeted by Kristina who looked after us from the word go. A Greek Salad and French Fries were prepared for us which then became our daily lunchtime snack.
We met Lilia the Manager the following day along with Julie, Maria and Katrina. All of these lovely ladies did their best to make sure you had the best holiday ever.
We stayed half board and could certainly recommend that too. The food was varied and beautifully cooked. The staff are always smiling and very friendly.
We met the owners of the hotel who introduced themselves to us whilst wanting to make sure everything was to your satisfaction. They regularly chatted with the guests.
The village itself is a 5 minute walk away and that too is lovely. The staff in the Tavernas were very warm and friendly and not pestering you to eat there which made a walk around the town relaxing.
We did a trip to Thessaloniki with Touristree which was excellent and Lilia helped by arranging this for us. We also did the Blue Lagoon boat trip onto the second peninsula.
We met many couples who were all very pleased with the hotel and the Greek Night on a Sunday is great fun and gave us plenty to laugh about.
Thank you Achtis Hotel for looking after us so well over the two weeks we were with you. We now feel very well rested and will certainly be wanting to return.
From the first second my husband and I entered the premises and were greeted like family by Lilia to the very last minute, this hotel provided excellent service (including lots of pampering) while giving us the feeling to be special!
Other than 'regular' hotels, this hotel really wants to get to know you beyond names. We also got to meet the owner Magda who mingles with guests and her employees just like everybody else instead. Every time we were greeted by every employee with a smile AND: they remembered our names! The smiles were believable smiles, not these typical 'good morning - and I smile because I have to- smiles.
We had the feeling throughout our 5 day-stay that the employees are like a big, happy family and that that level of happiness is being transferred to the guests. We both loved, LOVED our stay in this wonderful hotel that made us feel like being in a different world as soon as we entered the facility. A++++ would be an understatement.
From breakfast, pool area to Mr. and Mrs. Peacock (who live on the premises along with koi and a duck family, rooms etc. EVERYTHING is beautiful, cozy and simply amazing!
Thank you Lilia, Mary, Magda and all the others for making our stay such an outstanding experience !!!!!
