On Sanya Bay, at the southern tip of Hainan Island, the Pullman Oceanview is a five-star megaresort with a large lagoon-style pool, tennis courts, a private beach and tons of family-friendly activities. The 469 air-conditioned guestrooms have a contemporary beach feel, with neutral tones, natural fabrics and bold accents, and they all overlook the gardens or the ocean. The bathrooms come with large separate tubs and rain showers, and the windows open fully to let in the cool sea breeze (although mosquitoes can be a nuisance in this area). The apartments are truly spacious (1,291 to 1,937 square feet) and offer 180-degree ocean views. There are two restaurants, one international and one Cantonese, and four bars, including the 17th-floor Red Sun Bar for sundowners with views.
In the Area
There are tons of activities to try your hand at in built-for-tourists Sanya, in the southern part of Hainan Island. The beaches near the hotel are perfect for jet-skiing, paragliding and banana boating, and the hotel can help organize glass-bottom boating, deep sea fishing, snorkeling and scuba diving. There’s surfing in Riyue Bay; lessons and equipment can be organized with Surfing Hainan. During the Qing Dynasty, Hainan was known as the End of the Earth, and today tourists flock to a rock formation of the same name.
How to Get There
The Pullman Oceanview Sanya Bay Resort & Spa has great location, which is around 1km from Sanya Bay; and around 7km or 8km from the Sanya Beauty Crown Cultural Exhibition Center. The parking is free. And I did enjoy the rooftop bar. The hotel is highly recommended if you are to spend 3 or 4 days in Hainan.
We decided to stay at Pullman Oceanview as it is a short taxi ride from Phoenix international airport and we have a early flight out.
The hotel is slightly dated however the service is really good.
Complimentary one way shuttle bus to the local city center. But you would need to make booking at least 2 hours in advance. 10.30am 1.30pm and 5.30pm three slots.
They offer some movie screening and rifle shooting game and kids playground.
It also has a small gift shop and a local products shop.
Private beach access which you can walk to take a lift and it links up to a underpass to cross to a private beach. Nice views on the beach.
Easy to get a taxi to go to town or tourist attractions.
Good hotel, great location, good western style food, convenient and clean beach, warm ( but not so clean ) sea.
Overall very hotel is very recommended to spend 5-8 days vacation.
Negative side of the Sanya is that not many western style restaurants around and Chinese seafood places are not cheap ( $50-$60 per person "depends on menu"), so be careful before ordering food there.
Other than that good vacation spot.
