How to Get There
We have stayed at Villa del Sol a few times and always eat in the beach front dining
room a few times. This visit we are staying elsewhere, but decided to have dinner there anyway. Sorry we did. The "fresh" lobster was over cooked and dry. I think is died of natural causes before being cooked. The other entrée was just average and served at room temp. The service was good, but that doesn't justify a $145.00 dinner without wine.
The menu is an lunch /dinner type and was hard to order a nice dinner without going to the overprived specials. If you are happy with a hamberger for dinner, ok go there. If not there are so many options in Zihua.
What an amazing experience here over the US Thanksgiving holiday!! The grounds are absolutely beautiful with lagoons, lush landscape and impeccably maintained throughout. The resort is right on the beach with infinity pool and beach restaurant and bar just steps away. I was in heaven the entire time with wonderful service from housekeeping, bar and wait staff and the front desk. In room massages are also such a treat! The rooms are spacious, modern and without clutter. I met some awesome people that I plan to maintain friendships with and am hoping to return for Thanksgiving in 2019. :) Thank you for a perfect getaway! ~ Jenny
The new design and menu is nothing like it use to be. The rooms are stark and gray. There is no art in the rooms. There is no art in the rooms. The tennis courts are actually dangerous. The beach personal and wait staff are still good. Best to know , you can order off the menu traditional mexican food.
Perched on La Ropa Beach, this resort, just steps from the water possesses incredible views. The low rise configuration creates an intimate, convivial setting enhanced by the excellent margaritas. But what really makes this resort special is the staff. I have never encountered a friendlier or more accommodating group of service personnel anywhere. Everyone endeavors to make your stay special. Diego was especially wonderful, greeting us warmly every day, anticipating our needs, and making us feel like part of his family. I highly recommend Villa del Sol to anyone looking for relaxation in an incredible setting
My husband & I went for dinner & were treated well by staff. Property is lovely & view of La Ropa is beautiful. The dinner was a fixed menu that night but there was also a regular limited menu . The chef attempted an Asian theme with spring rolls, sushi/sashimi as starters which weren’t bad but not impressive. The main was a choice of several stir fried ingredients. I ordered the shrimp, my husband ordered the chicken. Both dishes were a medley of chopped up vegetables with very little else. The flavors were questionable. I found 3 small shrimps in my dish. A bowl of rice was the accompaniment and the waiter announced that it was complimentary. Dessert of 3 samples was included & unremarkable. We also ordered 2 Margaritas & an inexpensive bottle of wine. The bill came to $3800.00 pesos, about $250.00 Canadian. That is by far the most we’ve spent here in Zihuatanejo and we’ve been to Espuma, Coconuts, Il Mare & other great restaurants.
We would suggest that this restaurant is not in keeping with the resort’s reputation. Major work needed to upgrade the chefs offerings.
