How to Get There
I was hesitant to visit Acapulco after all the safety advisories that the American Government is providing, but I took my chances and decided to visit the city. After reading several reviews on hotels I picked Emporio—bad choice. The hotel claims to be 5 stars, it’s not even close to 3. Installations are in serious need of remodeling, at our arrival we wanted to take a shower before heading out for the beach, but there were no towels available in the room. No big deal, we can request them and postpone the shower, so we headed to the beach to find out that the supply of towels was low as well not being able to get towels at all. Next day in the morning after I finally showered we discovered the toilet was clogged and leaking. I picked up the phone to find out it was not working either. We headed to the restaurant for breakfast and stopped at the desk to let them know about the problem in the room. At the restaurant we waited for 10 minutes before my daughter went to the host to request a server, since I am not a fan of buffet, we wanted a la carte items, we specified this prior to requesting a table, when the server finally took our order it took another 20 minutes to get our drinks and 40 more to receive our food. Really? After all this I was ready to complain so I went to the front desk and the line was long and busy. They wanted me to talk to the supervisor, however when I asked them what I was gaining if I spent another hour of my time with them, all they said was for them it’s a way to improve and for me? Nothing, instead I had to pay an additional 400 pesos to add another person to my room, we were 3 however my sister joined us on day 2. Even though the pool is dirty, they charge you for the use of the palapas at the beach which I don’t recommend to use since the beach is invaded with vendors that charge less for umbrellas that block the palapas view. The private beach is not private as I mentioned it’s full of vendors. The beach is filthy, if you want to swim with trash that has being brought back by the sea then stay here, since neither the hotel or the government does anything to clean the beaches. Is so sad that Acapulco has gained a bad reputation for crime, however the real crime here is the lack of hospitality and consciousness to make the place better. They don’t have the dollars coming so they are doing business with everything charging you for even a chair. I did spoke with Gregorio, not gaining anything, not even a discount, I wasn’t looking for one but I have worked in resorts and this not how you treat guests. I forgot to mention the harassment you get if you are not wearing their band on your wrist.
The only day that we ate at this hotel and ordered room service my partner had the worst stomach infection and I had to take him to the ER. Not to mention that we had several problems in our room and the a/c didn’t was not cool enough. The location is great, but it’s not worth getting very sick. This is our last time staying here!!
Our stay was perfect, the level of service was one of the best i ever experience in Mexico. Audel our waiter at the restaurant made our mornings very pleasant. Room were impeccable the ocean view was breathless. Carlos and Juan they always were on top of the service at the beach. It was our first time at this hotel and we will comeback asap. Cheers.
