The Review

Just an hour or so from cosmopolitan Hong Kong, Shenzhen was once known as the Middle Kingdom’s industrial hub. Today the city is the home and playground of some of China’s wealthiest people and a spa destination for weary urbanites from Hong Kong.

The Futian Shangri-La, in the center of Shenzhen’s business district, is an oasis amid the urban chaos, offering the brand’s world-class service alongside three dining venues and nearly 10,000 square feet of spa and health club facilities.

Each of the 548 guestrooms has a 37-inch wall-mounted plasma TV, and a 15-inch LCD TV by the bathtub as well; the tub is complemented by a separate rainfall shower.

There are four on-site dining venues: the Shang Garden, a casual spot serving Cantonese and Huaiyang cuisine; Café Zen, an open-kitchen buffet offering Hong Kong specialties and local favorites; Fook Lam Moon, which specializes in upscale private dining; and the Lobby Lounge, where quick drinks and bar bites are accompanied by live music from 8 p.m. to midnight daily.

The Futian Shangri-La’s eight-room spa offers treatments based on both Eastern and Western philosophies. If the massages and facials aren’t enough to bring back your Zen, the rest of the health club facilities — the indoor pool, tennis courts, sauna and Jacuzzi — can keep you busy for hours.

Everybody is so friendly especially MarkRen was very handsome and cute. Mina Li was very helpful in checking in and amazing also very good selection of food including Western, Chinese, Japanese, and Indian. Also should mention Allen and Maggie, the Horizon Club manager, both very friendly and helpful. Great selection of wines and liquors, beer and soft drinks. Way more value than I paid for! Can’t say enough about this great experience and I highly recommend to everyone!!

Good stay

The hotel is located right in the heart of city and it is a good choice for business trips. The staffs are friendly and makes you feel welcomed. Checking-in is a breeze. The room that I was assigned to was a corner room and there will be an angled corridor that I need to walk into the bedroom from the door. The bathroom is clean and all amenities are available. The bedroom has a great view of the outside with a pane of glass like an aquarium, except that you'll be looking at buildings. The surrounding area of the hotel has a Family Mart and Starbucks within a very short walking distance should you need to grab coffee or snacks. It's quite a peaceful area and it's very nice to take a walk in the morning as there are a lot of greeneries around.

Excellent Stay

I check-in at the hotel at 1 am due to a flight delay. I was given a much better room than expected. Totally enjoyed the stay. Bed was comfortable, toilet amenities was superb and there was a huge variety of food for breakfast. Definitely will return to stay again.

Superb setting and service.

Though perhaps this hotel does not have quite the 'Wow' factor that some of the other 5* hotels in Futian have (such as the Four Seasons or Ritz-Carlton), the room prices are only 2/3 the price of their competitors, it's in an even better location to visit the bars and restuarants of Coco Park AND the staff are just great. The fact that there was no outdoor pool or space outside was a bit of a shame though.
