This was my first time staying at a Westin hotel and if this is the standard across all their hotels I will be a customer for life.
I am well travelled and by far its the best hotel I have stayed at in my life. I honestly felt like every member of staff wanted me to have the best holiday possible. From start to finish we were blown away by their customer service. Every member of staff says hello to you each time you see one which is so friendly and nice.
The staff can't do enough for you, I was never left without a drink or an empty plate.
We payed for the Royal Beach club and it was truly money well spent we felt like royalty. Their was a problem with our check in when we arrived however the lady at the Royal beach club upgraded us again as compensation and this to me is the sign of a good hotel. They cared that much about my experience. This meant a lot to me as human error can happen but the fact that they cared enough to try to rectify it is what good customer service is all about. I've got to say the room was amazing, the decor, facilities view everything. The toiletries were very good quality so much so I regretted brining my own. Housekeeping was excellent and I was always pleased with the standard. The bed was super comfy and the sheets were excellent quality. They smelt and felt great. Normally I can't wait to get back to my own bed after a long trip but I could have slept in that bed forever. I suffer with back and neck problems and the pillows were amazing. The only time I have stayed in a hotel and been pretty much pain free. Sometimes it's the small things that make perfection and this hotel gets everything right. If you are A couple I would 100 percent recommend the Royal beach club.
The pool at RBC is so relaxed and the staff won't let you lift a finger. A lovely lady tending the pool made my sun lounger up one day for me which was lovely. They also have a member of staff to get you drinks which is a great touch and welcomed in the heat. The RBC bar tenders were so friendly and amazing at their jobs, there's also a lifeguard and towel station. We had our own concierge At tower one which was amazing and an excellent additional service and they spoke great English. If you need anything at all they will help you.
The RBC resteraunt was unbelievably good. Both the food and the staff, and breakfast was to die for. An fantastic choice of well cooked food but if that wasn't enough you could order snacks by the pool and 24 hour free room service which we used many times and was so good again both quality and service. When you open the door to room service the staff ask before they come in if it's ok to do so and this shows excellent manners.
From the gardeners to the managers each member of staff is excellent at what they do. There is constantly staff tidying cleaning and gardening which shows how serious they are about their standards.
There is simply to much to mention about the food and drinks at this hotel but I will just say that each one was fabulous and this hotel should be extremely proud of what they are offering. Each place to eat has its own unique features and food and the dine around choice is just exceptional. I felt like I was getting a different dining experience each night which is no easy task at an all inclusive resort. I don't usually opt for that many AI nowadays but this hotel breaks the mould.
If you like plants and wildlife you will fall in love with this hotel. There's beautiful plants and I saw howler monkeys, coati and many birds each day. What's even nicer is the hotel allows you to be amongst nature in a responsible way. The animals and plants are respected and you can walk down a strip of mango trees and see monkeys with their babies jump from tree to tree without any stress to the animals. Costa Rica has no zoos and the people live amongst the animals with respect and I wish this concept was everywhere in the world.
We walked the many walking trails in the grounds so if your like us and you love waking there's some great trails around the hotel which are very safe. You get a map and book in your room about the area so you won't be bored at this hotel. They have a great activities programme and I really loved the energy the team had at the Activity centre. They seems happy in their jobs and I took part in towel making which I think may have been for kids but I had fun and the lady who ran the session was so friendly.
I used the free kayaks and again the staff couldn't do enough for us. Carrying all the equipment and making sure they explained every thing fully. I also took part in the bike ride and the guy leading the session was pointing out lots of great things around the resort And gave me lots of tips about activities and features of the hotel which was so helpful. That's the thing that struck me about this hotel the most the staff could go through the motions like most hotels and just do their jobs but I felt like each and everyone one wanted to give a little bit more than this. I travelled to Vietnam on my last holiday and thought that customer service couldn't get better than that country however the Costa Rican staff at this hotel blow them out of the water.
Honestly if anyone has any negative comments about this hotel they must have ridiculously high standards because to me I couldn't have designed a better hotel myself. We only have a couple of days left at this hotel and boy am I going to miss it. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone it has it all. I work hard for my money and this hotel whilst not the cheapest choice really delivers value for money and if you want 5 star service book it. There was many hotel to choose from in Costa Rica and I did a weeks grand tour previous to this and had a Choice of hotels and I made the right one completely. I could talk about this hotel much more and I'm sure I will for many years to come. Thank you for the wonderful memories and excellent service Westin Playa Conchal! I'm going to miss you.

Best tip: if your going to book trips do it with the hotels tour company. Everyone raves about Eric Garcia on Tripadvisor but I met him and his prices are not much cheaper than Swiss travel at the resort. Further he gave us two different prices on different days for the same trip which I didn't like.
I really enjoyed the service and atmosphere of the hotel. It was a nice and relaxing hotel with many restaurant options. I highly recommend the Italian restaurant. Look out for Erik Garcia on the beach he will set you up with quality excursions with the best prices you can get.
We had an amazing week stay at The Westin and Andrei from Conchal Fun gave us the real Costa Rican experience through a few of the excursions our group booked with him. The hotel was very accommodating to our group of 10, booking all our dinners at the perfect time each night and making sure our room bar was stocked with our favorite drinks! The staff was wonderful and very friendly! Overall we will all be returning to this hotel again and we will def be using Andrei with Conchal Fun when we go back! I reccomend if you are booking here you also book an excusrion or two with Andrei as well you will not be disappointed!!
I would give the Westin Playa Conchal 5 stars were it not for one issue that is still not resolved. We booked and paid for our vacation through Pleasant Holidays which is where we were directed by Westin's own website. We paid Pleasant Holidays and they then paid the Westin. The day of our arrival the Westin then charged my card a second time for the acomodation cost. When I noticed this the next day and questioned it Westin staff acknowledged that they had already been paid in full by Pleasant Holidays and that the charge by the Westin would be reversed. It is now 10 days later and they still have not reversed the charge! This is despite me following up on multiple occasions while we were still at the resort. Completely unacceptable that we were charged for something already paid for and that it still has not been reversed. I have now disputed the charge with my credit card company so will let them deal with the Westin. Check you credit card bill carefully if you stay here!
I say the next Aruba because people in Costa Rica could not be any nicer and it is a safe place to visit. Great service at this Hotel, probably one of the best I ever experienced and I travel a lot. The hotel is new and modern, very clean, good food, awesome pool, and nice beach. 24 hour room service so kids get to eat at any time they want. Very fast Wi-Fi throughout the hotel if you need it. I prefer to disconnect while on vacation as best I can, but of course things from work come up. The hotel is very green with environmental policies in place like no straws, lots of trees and even wildlife including monkeys. Overall a great vacation, so glad we choose Costa Rica. I would not only recommend this hotel, but I would go back. If traveling with family, ask for a room with a bathroom door, not all rooms have a bathroom door. We had to switch, no privacy for changing. OK if it was a couples vacation. Something worth noting, the airport is ridiculously expensive, a regular bottle of water is $7-$10 per bottle, personal pizza $15, so eat before you leave hotel. Actually, if you go I would only do all inclusive. I ordered an ice coffee from the Coffee Shop on the property and that was $8, crazy. And fly JetBlue, they pay the $29 tax at the airport when you book, otherwise you have to wait on a long line to pay this tax on departure. So glad we did not have to do that when travelling with kids.
