How to Get There
We stayed at this lovely hotel for 4 nights. From the moment you enter, you realize this is a unique and beautiful space, filled with magnificent pottery, wonderful people and absolutely charming. breakfast each morning was so delicious and the coffee was amazing. great service, the staff was incredibly helpful and brought us whatever we needed. this is by far, a great value. walking distance to absolutely everything. highly highly recommend!
We loved our stay at Hacienda El Santuario! Our room was beautiful and looked out over a small, peaceful courtyard. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Luis at the front desk couldn’t have been more helpful and made us feel right at home. Looking forward to coming back.
We spent 5 nights here in April. The hotel is very well located, close to the main square (El Jardin), but not too close. Most of historical San Miguel de Allende is within walking distance. The staff was excellent and so was the breakfast in the courtyard every morning. Some days it's a buffet style and on slower days it's table service. The grounds are beautiful and there are many local artifacts and crafts throughout. We had a junior suite, which was quite spacious. Another plus is that the hotel will arrange private transportation to and from the BJX airport, which is a 1-1/2 to 2 hour drive.
Cons: The hotel was undergoing some renovation (they are building a rooftop bar). Unfortunately our room ("Sabino") was nearby. Also, it's somewhat hard to explain, but our bathroom shared a vent with the room next door and the outside, so at times it could be noisy and we could hear everything going on in our neighbor's bathroom. Our only other complaint is that the shower head did not function correctly and the water was never really hot (although warm enough). We never used the cold water faucet when showering. By the way, there is no tub or pool.
Formerly a convent, Hacienda Santaurio is a charming, relaxing place to stay in SMA. Two blocks from the square, beautiful patio, authentic decorations, and excellent, helpful staff. We stayed in early May so it wasn't crowded. Breakfasts are simple but good, with weekends offering a buffet and open to the public. Quiet and safe street. Ask for an upstairs room. Renovation going on so couldn't visit rooftop garden caused occasional noise, but overall no problem. Say hello to Abraham if you go, very nice and helpful employee.
San Miguel de Allende does not lack hotels. It is one of those cities where it is somewhat difficult to discern good quality yet reasonably price hotels. Although there are many hotels that appear to be fancier with an arm and a leg price, Hacienda El Santuario stands out - in-room breakfast, spacious room, beautiful garden, excellent service, etc This was my second time that I stayed at Hacienda El Santuario after the first stay three years ago. The staff members came over to say hello, remembering me and my stay. A unwavering recommendation to savvy travelers.
