Sprawling family-friendly luxury resort with five golf courses set along the shoreline of stunning Lake Oconee
Set on the grounds of a former private hunting retreat named “Linger Longer,” this 251-room resort by Lake Oconee still feels like a millionaire’s country escape. Families are well catered-to: parents can indulge in hours-long spa rituals or play a round of golf on one of many championship courses while kids embark on immersive, fully supervised half-day camps and evening activities. Along with a roster of aromatherapy and botanical-oriented treatments, the spa features apothecary and skincare workshops, yoga, and Pilates classes. Long stays here don’t mean repetitive meals: there are six restaurant experiences to choose from, including a romantic lakefront three-course dinner accompanied by your very own bonfire.
In the Area

Hunt for treasures in downtown Greensboro (about 20 minutes from the resort) at the Greensboro Antique Mall, where you might score anything from vintage religious iconography to American quilts and antebellum curiosities. Then refuel at the Yesterday Café on Main Street, which serves calorific American Southern dishes like buttermilk pie.
