How to Get There
In the heart of the old section of town, near a lot of restaurants, the port and other sites. My room was a superior spa room--it had a jacuzzi on its terrace. It had an interesting arched ceiling with exposed old stones, a comfortable bed and high speed wifi. Unfortunately, since it was on the ground floor it was dark. However, it was very pleasant to sit by the pool, with beautiful plants around it. the staff were very friendly and available for consulting about restaurants, etc. Breakfast had a good variety of foods and featured specialties from Crete. The woman who brought me coffee and warm bread was especially lovely.
This is an excellent small hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable. The pool next to our room, in the courtyard was lovely. The food at breakfast was very good. The staff were excellent, they were attentive, friendly and helpful.
I had the best massage I had ever had, after a tough day walking in the mountains.
The hotel is situated in the heart of the beautiful Old Town
Everything about this hotel was fabulous. The staff, the rooms, the breakfast, etc. was delightful. The hotel goes out of their way to make sure you enjoy your stay. All around customer service was fantastic! The rooms are so unique and beautiful. The pools were beautiful to use. I would definitely recommend this hotel. A first class boutique hotel. If I come back this is the hotel I would stay in. I highly recommend this hotel.
The hotel is situated in two old buildings in an alleyway of the old town of Rhethymnon. My suite in the Rimondi Estate was adequate in size. The furniture was good-looking, only a writing desk was missing in my opinion. There was plenty of space in the cupboards. The bathroom was awfully small, everything was in good shape, but a corpulent guest would have problems. I understand that all major changes of the rooms in a historic house would need a complicated and lengthy procedure until authorized by the administration. The room was nicely quiet during the nights. Ventilation and air-conditining were in order. The service was exceptionally pleasant. And I have to praise the breakfast in this hotel. A big variety of dishes for all tastes made from excellent ingredients was offered. I enjoyed the stay in this house and recommend the comfortable hotel !
This hotel is more like a resort. When we got there, even before we got our room key we were invited to sit down in their lovely courtyard and was served a typical “Crete snack” with a delicious cocktail. You are treated like royalty when you are a guest. The staff cannot do enough for you. Our room was a two story suite with a bedroom upstairs with its own balcony overlooking a courtyard with a pool. This configuration can be looked at as a negative depending on how well one deals with a bedroom up a steep flight of stairs while the bathroom is on the first level.
The rooms in the suite are small. There is a safe which is something we look for, especially when we travel abroad. The bathroom was clean but did have a very noticeable off odor. The breakfast was amazing.
All the staff was incredibly helpful including sending us off for our early flight with a bag breakfast that they prepared especially for us, since we had to leave before the start of breakfast. They also gave us bottled water, coffee-to-go and beach towels the day we went on one of our excursions. Speaking of excursions, the hotel connected us with an amazing driver/tour guide that complimented our amazing experience with the hotel. Stelios Salvarakis of Crete Taxi Reservations (subject of a separate TripAdvisor review) was a warm, intelligent, friendly person who turned our short two day stay on Crete into a memorable experience. His pride in his job and of his island really showed. After spending two days with him, we were excited to see him show up to take us to the airport when we left Crete. We felt we had made a friend.
The location of the hotel is wonderful, with tons of shops and amazing restaurants close by. It’s within walking distance of sites to see in Rethymno, such as the Fortress and harbor area.
We highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting this area of Crete
