Excellent hotel and place to spent 7-10 days at the seashore

Great food.
Very kind attitude from any personnel there.
Not very noisy like in other resorts although the animation team is very active and you can mix your time with activities they provide.
I liked very much that it is somehow isolated (no other restaurants next to it) and you can have sunbeds on both the sand and on the grass under the trees.

The Perfect Place For Families

Our first time in Greece. We travel to Athens, Patmos, Kos, Santorini, and Finally Crete. We choose Grecotel Meli Palace because it was an all inclusive. The staff was very helpful and extremely nice. They assisted us with our Car rental and mapped out our destinations. Even offered to pack a lunch for our day trip. Every night we had wonderful entertainment. The food and service was superb. The staff was the best part of our stay. The made sure we wanted for absolutely nothing.

If you plan to travel to Crete and you have children, this place is perfect.

Lovely, as always

5th time staying with Grecotel, Meli the smallest. As always, very good value for money, the food and drinks are superb. The staff. Oh my goodness. The staff are ALWAYS the stars of the show. Philoxenia at it's best!! Even when busy, they care. They go above and beyond a job description. And, I know that I'm sounding very old here, but your young people are an absolute credit to the hotel. A huge thank you to Nikos and Giannis. Great service, polite and really funny.

Yes, the hotel does require some modernisation, it is a but tired, but I have no doubt that this will happen soon.
There were a couple of things that we weren't too happy about - sorted straight away.
Bit disappointed with the Ala carte, were advised that we needed to book a few days in advance, when we tried we were informed that it was only open 2 days a week, and were fully booked, thus missed out. Bit of a shame.
Highly recommended. Would I go back? Yep. But Corfu Grecotel Dassia is calling next year!

Really excellent

This is our first time in Greece and what an introduction. This is a beautiful hotel. The staff are really friendly and the food is superb. It has its own beach which is a real bonus.

If the weather is not so good, it can feel a little isolated, but the village of Sissi is a 30 minute walk away and is is so pretty.

The spa is ok, but only opens at 10:30am so if like me you want to train before breakfast, you will have to change your routine.

All in all a brilliant week, will definitely be back.

No frills but pleasant stay

We just got back from a 7 night stay with another couple, at meli palace. Our stay was pleasant and good value for money. Firstly the hotel has beautiful scenic views, and the staff are excellent. The service and friendliness of the staff made us feel really welcome...always smiling and happy to help. We enjoyed the beach and pool despite the windy weather. The cliff walk is a must, as you can walk along the scenic cliff path to some ancient ruins passing a beautiful beach on the way. If you continued you could walk all the way into Malia.

The food at the hotel was good, a varied Buffett dinner every evening and we would definitely reccomend doing the a la Carte dinner one evening which was beautiful and delicious. Whilst the food was a little repetitive it was always of a good standard with an emphasis on local dishes. The drink service after dinner was good (try the white lady for gin lovers) although the bar was pretty quiet and subdued and we often found ourselves going to bed early (food, sun and wine combination!)

The rooms were basic and need upgrading. The balconies are small and not private so it was difficult to sit out of an evening without rubbing shoulders with your fellow neighbours. Our friends complained the beds were hard and it was difficult to sleep.

There are different activities to do including tennis and beach volleyball which we enjoyed.

You must venture out into the local village sissi which has many bars and restaurants which we enjoyed. Especially enjoyed Stefanos bar!

If you looking for a value for money basic good inclusive Base to tour the island this is it. It is also worth hiring a car and exploring the island which is beautiful.
