A sleek family-friendly resort with spacious rooms and show-stopping views of the Mediterranean

The Look

Located in eastern Crete, 20 minutes from the sleepy fishing village of Elounda, Daios Cove Luxury Resort is set in 37 acres, hand-carved out of the surrounding hillside above the inviting azure waters of Daios Bay. Interiors tend to the minimal side, with stone walls, a typically Greek white-on-white palette, sleek wooden furniture around the infinity pool, several contemporary eateries and a trendy bar, Crystal Box, which plays chill-out music throughout the day.

Bed & Bath

With 300 rooms, suites and villas, Daios Cove is no small inn. The guestrooms are large; Deluxe Sea View Rooms start at 452 square feet, while One-Bedroom Villas are more than 1,000. The light blue, beige and sandy color scheme harmonizes with the views outside. While there’s poolside service at the main infinity pool on the property, many of the guestrooms come with their own heated pool, and there’s nothing quite like calling room service and spending a day with nothing but you, your loved ones and the sea all the way to the horizon.

For active types there are two tennis courts, a scuba center, an entertainment room with activities for kids, and a helipad (if you’re thinking of arriving in style). Back on the ground, three restaurants and three bars serve local cuisine and cocktails, with options from the hilltop down to the water’s edge, including an adults-only pool with a swim-up bar for cocktails. The large spa offers dozens of water-based treatments chosen by the team at Germaine de Capuccini, and guests can Zen out with two indoor pools, a sauna, steam bath and an ice fountain.

A very nice stay
Reviewed 1 month ago

This hotel is a very pleasant place to stay, the way it’s build on the hill in a bay is fantastic. The personnel is friendly and helpful, the rooms are very well maintained, cosy and clean. The best of the hotel is the food, this is super prepared and every day all the dishes are different and interesting, compliments to the chef.
It’s a luxury resort and the prices of drinks and food are aligned with that qualification i.e. on the high side but it fits the resort.
The beach is nice to go as well as on the poolside it’s nice to stay although there the space is not big for such a big hotel.
Overall a very pleasant stay and worth to go when in Crete.

Superb from the moment you arrive, to the moment you leave!

People will tell you how good this Hotel is, but they will never be able to share how incredible the overall experience actually is!
Red carpet arrival, check in sat in the lounge, Golf cart taxi service to your room, breath taking views from the room, three excellent restaurants along with the finest buffet restaurant i have ever experienced.
The staff cannot do enough for you, whether you are beach side, pool side, having dinner or relaxing in the Spa.
We booked half board stay enjoying the buffet restaurant each morning but alternating visits to the buffet with switching out to the specialist restaurants every other evening. Each of the specialist restaurants apply a credit of 30 euro's against your bill if you opt out of the buffet in the evening.
The Spa can take you to new levels of relaxation, we enjoyed the 120 minute body scrub and massage which was exceptional, more than just a routine process, you feel the therapists really engage with your requirements and deliver against your personal objectives.
I cannot enthuse enough about this establishment, you will not be disappointed, and if you are tell someone, they will put it right for you!!!

Great October Half Term Break
Reviewed 1 month ago

We travelled to Daios Cove for October half term with 2 x teenage sons. We decided to book the All Inclusive package as part of having a 2 bedroom villa with pool. Our travel to the hotel (via BA) is covered by separate reviews, so for this review I will focus only on the hotel.

Arrival : slick . A good welcome from attentive staff. Bags whisked away , a refreshing arrival drink and good walk through of the hotel by the reception team. Faultless

Room :2 bed villa with pool was exceptionally good. Spacious, comfortable, high quality and plentiful room for 2 adults and 2 teenage boys. The pool was small ( as badged in the marketing) but refreshing and used most days at the end of the day by the boys. The room was very clean - immaculate in fact with brilliant maid service every day

Food : Our first evening was spent at Pangea, which i the buffet dining room. I have to say I was very unhappy. Whilst the food tasted good, everything was luke warm at best. I have a bug bear about cold food and for me this is avoidable. The rest of the holiday was spent at the Taverna or the Ocean Restaurant where the choice of food was very good and the quality at an exceptional level. These 2 restaurants genuinely could not be faulted on any dish .Certainly made up for the 1st night disappointment. The A/I wine list is actually quite good - Greek wines are better than expected. The Premium Wine list has some outstanding options, but is crazily expensive and does not represent good value.

Beach Bar: the staff at the beach bar were outstanding. Friendly, fun and attentive. The food at the beach bar was of exceptionally good quality and with a lot of variation to choose from. I am not really sure if they could improve on what they have such was the quality. Drinks were readily available, cocktails well made, non alcoholic choice for the kids was good, and the service on the beach was brilliant.

Activities : there was a kids club for young children which appeared to be well run and popular. For teenagers, there is very limited activity with the games room closing at 9pm ( it did however make our teenage sons engage with us :0) ) The beach activities included kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkelling, scuba all of which was paid for extra. Not cheap, €20 per hour for paddle board/kayak but everyone enjoyed it. The staff at the watersports are were brilliant, very friendly and engaging. We also took a 4 hour boat trip on the catamaran which was excellent. 9 people for 4 hours around the beautiful coast to Spinalonga and back. Excellent trip and recommended if you can fill the boat ( we did it with another family)

Downsides :

As a disabled traveller I found the hotel relatively easy to get around with the funicular and lifts all working well. The last drop to the beach however is via steps so mobility could be an issue for others.Golf buggies are always on hand to zip people around if required.

Off Plan food and drink is exceptionally expensive. Yes it is good quality but where the prices come from I do not know.

All Inclusive : we were told that the AI plan stopped at midday which was check out, yet the transfer to the airport was not until 6pm. The hotel should honour peoples plans for the duration of their stay. I objected , and the manager duly obliged and honoured the commitment - in fact she handled our discussion brilliantly and professionally.

Summary : a beautiful, immaculate, clean and safe environment with incredibly good service and staff in which to enjoy a holiday. This is as close to a 100/100 resort as I have been to in Europe. We loved every minute of being at Daios Cove, would go back in an instant and would recommend it to anyone. Just be mindful of the budget if you are not on an all inclusive package.

Everything about the Dias Cove was fantastic. This was a family holiday, and we booked two sea view rooms. We were on the 7th floor which had fantastic sea views. The weather was glorious, food was amazing! and staff were super friendly, special mention to Maria for taking us under her wing!

Everything was 5* down to the Mercedes and luxury mini vans that were used to take us to and from the airport!

The spa was fantastic. So peaceful and relaxing! We also enjoyed a yoga and cooking lesson, special shout out to Manuela the cook who was fantastic and funny! and gave excellent tips!

We went into the town, which was fantastic! very friendly locals :) all in all would definitely return!

This place is seriously top notch luxury. The service is outstanding, there’s always a shuttle waiting to drive you to your room and back. The food was amazing and the resort is just as good as it gets. It is 15 mins away from Aghios Nikolaos town which I’d recommend people go over to visit. The drinks on this resort are a bit pricey which you’d expect anyway. One tiny downside was that the private room pools don’t get much sun , unless you have one on the very left side of the lobby. The way the sun sets , the sun didn’t reach the private pools , maybe it is different in the summer . We stayed here late October . Overall I’d definitely go back.
