Stunning hotel, great service.

We travelled with our 6 month baby and stayed 4 nights. The first night we arrived, we was escorted with to our spacious room, complete with welcome food and drinks. It was 10pm and they allowed us to eat in the Asian restaurants, which was still open and the food and staff was very good. The hotel itself is stunning, very luxurious. The pool is amazing and relaxing, not the mad rush for sun loungers that we're used to! We had our pram with us and there were slopes but not always so we had to carry our pram up and down some small steps.

The breakfast and dinner options is good and the service and entertainment is top notch - thanks to Manos!

The location is a bit remote but you can pop into the nearby towns by taxi.

The only downside is the excessive use of plastic water bottles - It would be better if there was water machines to fill up bottles rather than supplying plastic bottles everyday.

We had a wonderful and relaxing stay at the Amirandes - thank you!

Hospitality at its Best!

There's little I can add to all the excellent and wonderful reviews about this superb hotel. As a hotelier myself, I marvel at the training and management in place here as every single member of staff is welcoming, informed and eager to please. The maintenance and housekeeping is especially first rate, attention to detail clearly high on the agenda and everyone so cheerful. In fact this was the case every single place we went and for all the local people we met too. Yes the hotel is slightly isolated but the bus service on the main road is excellent and car hire is easily available. Seeing the museum and the Knossos palace was amazing, and there are many places to try Cretan cuisine and drinks throughout the island as well as the hotel. I enjoyed doing yofa each morning with a delightful tutor on the decking near the beach - blissful and happy times made my holiday even more special. This place was highly recommended by a business acquaintance and I booked knowing he is well travelled and particular and we certainly weren't disappointed, so we hope to return one day. Absolutely nothing not to like here, truly lovely place.

One of best in class

We spent 4 nights in this hotel. Design, view, staff and finally also the breakfast and dinner buffet are of excellent quality and merit well the 5 stars. The olympic size swimming pool with salt water fits as well with the hotel rating and we were still able to use it although the water temperature was getting towards the 20 degrees.

The hotel complex is a luxury an exclusive oasis but surroundings and road access are not famous. I would recommend to rent directly a car from the airport to explore the island. However, if you would prefer to rent a car just for day(s), companies are also located close to the hotel. For us not disturbing but you must know that the hotel is located directly in the final approach of the Heraklion airport.

As there were school holidays in many countries, quite a lot of Families were in the hotel and the staff really takes care of all generations in excellence. Also the evening shows for kids and finally also the live music in the bar was a pleasant plus. I personally would have likes at least once some traditional Greek music at the bar to link it with the nice country.

Stylish hotel with excellent customer service

This is a very stylish hotel with wonderful views. The staff were very welcoming and professional from the moment we arrived until our departure. The buffet breakfast and dinner were very good however we would have like to have seen more local Cretan food on the menu. We did try the Grill Restaurant too and although the quality of the food was excellent we found it lacked atmosphere with only two tables occupied during the whole evening. Unfortunately the waiting staff were not as good as the staff in the main restaurant whom we found to be very friendly, helpful and efficient. Six out of the seven nights we were there we had live music in the bar area and also various shows in the amphitheatre. All the acts were very good. On arrival we were upgraded to a family room in the older part of the hotel which was a little tired and the bathroom was in need of an update. However, the bed was very comfortable, everything worked, and we had a side view of the beach and the sea from our balcony. We had lunch a number of times at the poolside restaurant which was very good although, unless you have a large appetite, you could easily share a main course. If you want a sun lounger on the beach you need to secure it early but if none are available we found many around the pool which you can re-orientate to face the sun and/or sea. We very much enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would like to thank all the staff for making it so enjoyable and relaxing.

Better than expected, all-round classy hotel

We stayed with Amirandes with a Luxury Escapes booking, which was worthwhile booking through them. The hotel itself was excellent: bigger than expected, beautiful hotel and views, and fantastic service. While the beach isn't as 'flat and clear' as some nearby, we loved swimming there, and some days the sea was calmer than others. The pool is beautiful but pretty cold. The buffet meals were brilliant, morning and evening. We did visit the Asian restaurant, and the spa briefly - both were good but pricey. It's recommended to get a car and drive to nearby beaches. September weather was nicely hot, better than in Santorini. All-round, was a relaxing resort and we felt spoilt being there - thanks for a wonderful stay.
