Discover the largest of the Greek Islands with a stay on the sands of sunny Crete, an isle fringed with beautiful beaches, awash with ancient wonders and peppered with picturesque villages. Amirandes Grecotel Exclusive Resort occupies a prime position on Crete’s north coast, steps away from the dazzling allure of the Mediterranean, which gently laps a postcard-perfect stretch of golden shoreline. This getaway is designed for not just two, but three, Rs: rest, relaxation and romance.
If you can tear yourself away from your spacious room, make your way to the spa, or lose yourself in the Olympic-sized seawater pool. When it comes to drinking and dining, you’ll find numerous restaurants and bars to choose between, offering cuisine from organic local treats to Asian and Italian fare. For some light leisure, you’ll have three flood-lit tennis courts and a Golf Academy at your fingertips. Or, head to the Watersports Center for sailing, canoeing and kayaking.
Superior rooms are chic, spacious and well appointed, with beautiful views over the garden and comfortable king-size beds which provide a romantic retreat after a day on the sands. Superior Family rooms are larger than Superior rooms, with 430 square feet to the former’s 334.
There are a variety restaurants to choose from here, everything from Italian specialties at Minotaur to candlelit dinners on the beach. You’ll also find seafood, Asian and organic Cretan, plus a Mediterranean buffet, as part of the mix, along with a lagoon bar and a bar by the beach.
Amirandes Elixir Alchemy Spa offers a heavenly spa experience. Treatments use extracts from organic plants and Cretan herbs and include Ayurvedic therapies from expert therapists from India. There are a superbly serene indoor pool, relaxation lounges with tea and juices, a sauna and an open-air seafront area for yoga. You’ll find a fully equipped gym here for a workout, too (if you must).
Amirandes Grecotel Exclusive Resort is beautifully located on Crete’s northern coast, along a picturesque stretch of Mediterranean coastline with two sandy coves. The archaeological site at the Palace of Knossos is well within reach. Plenty of fun can be found nearby, including horse riding, Crete’s largest water park, Gouves train ride and the CretAquarium – one of the Mediterranean’s largest marine-science complexes.
How to Get There
What a hotel!! We loved every minute spent in there! The staff are all super kind and professional. You can feel the special spirit not only because the architecture is a beauty but you can feel the well being and team spirit of the staff. The buildings are just outstanding at every moment of the day and night!
Our daughter loved the kids club and enjoués ever moment spent there.
The food is excellent too and we were delighted to have chosen the half board option.
We are definitely considering to come back soon to this place close to paradis.
A huge THANK YOU to the whole staff who made our stay unforgettable :-)
This is our 4 th visit and we are still here , such a beautiful relaxing hotel 5 star rating for everything rooms are quiet and comfortable and the maids do an amazing job the rooms are immaculate. Now for the restaurant you cannot fault anything here they cater for all tastes everything so fresh and organic a lot from their local farm which is fantastic. Also all the staff are so friendly and accommodating, will not hesitate to come again next year .
OK so I have reviewed this hotel a few times, however it is always useful to pass on any information to prospective visitors. Well the most important, in my view, element of this hotel experience is the staff. Starting with arrival and met my a very attractive pleasant "captain" Polima, who is so efficient she should be running for president. She took care of everything one could want. They have a new deputy manager, who is still alive as they only shot the sheriff, bit of Bob Marley. Alexandiros is such a nice guy and again will fit in with the hotel perfectly. On the hotel, it is a very well designed architectural building with beautiful features and gardens. Beach boys great as all the rest. Food is so good in all the restaurants and buffet main dining is fantastic fir quality and variation, vegan table to cater for others as well. Food is mainly organic and they have selection of low fat foods, yogurts etc.
Cannot start to mention individuals as I have already tried that I think last year, too many and all, I mean all are wonderful. If anyone wants further information on anything please ask question.
Unfortunately our second stay wasn’t as welcoming as are first.
On arrival we were ask to join the membership rewards program which we were already a member off and then not granted the room upgrade which we were offered by Nikoletta prior to arrival by email so not off to a good start .
But thanks to the amazing staff Elani , Nana (maid) Polina ,& popi to name just a few are stay was amazing . We can not thank them enough for being so welcoming and making Harrison feel so special.
Only negatives hotel needs Ramps for wheelchairs and pushchairs, TV channels are terrible and phone wasn’t fixed till the last day after over 5 complaints !
Beautiful premises to be enjoyed with warm weather, not recommended otherwise:
Bar in a cellar ambiance with droughts and cold, dining rooms in main restaurant with doors always open to reach separate very narrow buffet area, fantastic pool freezing cold (the term heatable/beheizbar should be prohibited if never applied when needed),indoor pool, sauna, gym usable but by far not up to a 5star
Gastronomy: We arrived 2 days after season's opening,.logistics slowly improved, staff always willing to help but many not really up to the level, but really knew very little about narrow wine choice ("it is very good!") which was often not available in that respective dining room as well as somewhat overpriced...like drinks in general.
Food choice wide and good, but not spectacular, little variety during 10 days.
Breakfast espresso and cappuccino a real bottleneck resulting in quite long delays as waiters and queuing guests competed for access.
Flow in main restaurant offers significant room for improvement, therefore no relaxed atmosphere.
People: always very friendly and offering support, several times we were given or offered goodies or free drink to heal something we weren't too happy with.
Sports: Great football field and coach 9-year-old was enthusiastic about, tennis courts in good shape, fantastic pool area with very helpful free bottled water service, but, sorry, again, freezing cold and almost always totally empty.
So: A mix between top and flop. Unfortunately averages out.
