Quirky.......but in a really good way!

Really hip hotel with some pretty quirky decoration. Room was basic enough but all the necessary creature comforts were there. Roof top bar is really worth the visit.Clearly very popular with locals it does seem to require bouncers on the front door of the hotel which can be a little off putting. Good breakfast. Wouldn't say this was a hotel for families - probably more for couples and groups. The AC in a number of the rooms was not working on one of the nights we stayed which with no opening windows did make the room very warm despite the fan provided - all was resolved the following day. The absolute shining light for this hotel however is the staff - young and helpful, from the welcome at reception to the delivery of a beer and a cocktail in the rooftop bar all done with enthusiasm and a smile. Well done to all!

You have to clear the bouncers to get in at night

The hotel part is fine - small rooms in a trendy modern style. However, I feel uneasy in places that require bouncers - two at the door at night screening the crowd. Lobby/restaurant is really noisy. And really dark - even for breakfast you can't see the food on the buffet. Staff is friendly, but this place ain't for me.

Centrally located and happening hotel

Mama Shelter is within walking distance to many of the sight-seeing places and popular restaurant promenades. Only issue is that if you are travelling with heavy luggage, you may need to walk carrying the luggage for quite a distance since many lanes in that area are closed for vehicular traffic. The hotel itself is bright and modern, rooms are clean and the restaurants are busy till late evening, showing that they are very popular.

Over priced, noisy, over heated, chaotic

Overrun with people at reception with no area to sit. The staff are friendly but inconsistent. The rooms were small, overheated and noisy. Considering the price this hotel was not good value. The only good thing was the location.
