Bordeaux is all about its red, red wine and beautiful chateaux. Located at the city’s heady heart and with an expert sommelier in Martin Santander, Le Boutique Hotel is everything an oenophile needs and more. Despite its 18th-century townhouse setting, this is a contemporary design hotel with a flair for luxury. Le Boutique Hotel scooped a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence 2014.
Behind the soundproofed walls of most of its guestrooms, you’ll find designer furniture and even Hermès toiletries. To sample some of the 150 wines stocked in The Wine Bar here, there’s no better spot than the hotel’s own lush courtyard and no better cold cuts to go with them than those sourced from the region’s best suppliers. Bon appétit.
How to Get There
This is a great property - it is a beautiful renovated building and the rooms are light and airy. Please note that you have to climb stairs to access rooms in one of the buildings. But the staff are WONDERFUL! They have us great suggestions, helped arrange travel and even helped us with some travel issues we were having. They are so pleasant and helpful. The next time we go to Bordeaux, we will stay here again.
The restaurant and wine bar is very good too - we did a wine tasting and had a great time. The charcuterie is the BEST!
We were delighted with our stay at Le Boutique hotel in mid-April. The position of the hotel is ideal for exploring the town centre and museums, and is only a short walk away from the beautiful Gironde and its promenade. Don’t miss the Sunday market.
Our deluxe hotel room was very quiet and overlooked the courtyard. The room afforded every facility and it was a pleasurable bonus to have good quality refreshment facilities in the room. A huge, comfortable bed ensured a good night’s sleep.
Our inclusive breakfast was freshly prepared and served in a pretty dining room which doubled as the wine bar in the evening. The welcome and attentiveness of the staff could not be faulted. The few glasses of wine we sampled were good but be aware that, even though you are in Bordeaux, prices on the wine list were high and there were no inexpensive or medium-priced wines to choose from.
Having travelled via train, we got caught up in the SNCF strike and had to reschedule all our bookings. Our return train to Paris could not be managed on-line and one of the female receptionist (unfortunately we did not get her name) worked doggedly one afternoon to get through to SNCF, change and reprint our tickets for us. Forever grateful!
Our only negative comment would be regarding our return station taxi. We had enquired at reception for the location of the nearest taxi rank – our trip to the hotel from the station had cost 13 Euros. The receptionist kindly offered to organise a taxi for us which was, in fact, a chauffeur service who charged 25 Euros for a 15-minute journey. Annoyingly, we spotted the taxi rank around the corner as we were leaving the hotel. This should have been explained to us before it was booked.
First time I stayed here but all staff are very polite and very cosy hotel. I will definitely be back in future. One place to recommend to family and friends. Loved the bedroom. Staff always attentive to the guest needs
First of all the hotel is very well located. You can do everything walking. It has a lot of charm and a real atmosphere. Very original touch. The staff was extremely friendly and professional to help us out.
Supposedly is a four star but not sure how. Rooms typical old Europe, small but that is ok. However no information on how anything works, safe never worked atter staff tired several times, Recommend you be able to climb stairs as the elevator, while modern had to fit UNESCO or some regs and it really not very usable. Wine Bar just ok. Could never figure out what the wine tasting is, or when, so just did our own off the wine lit. BUT, the staff is wonderful, very helpful and willing to help at all times. Best items is the fresh orange juice machine -- take time to watch it work.
