How to Get There
The good things - location & breakfast
The bad things - the service, the elevators, the rooms. The Parvus Suite that I am staying in doesn’t match the website description - it’s not a suite, just a large room and there isn’t a separate shower. Additionally there is a window next to the shower area with no covering - what in the world were they thinking? The carpet in the room is stained. There are marks on the wall. I dropped the cap on the body lotion mini (which was pretty much empty) and housekeeping didn’t replace the bottle - just left it uncapped on the counter. The elevators are incredibly slow. The bar on the 6th floor is closed at 5pm on a Saturday? And don’t get me started on the overall level of service from the hotel staff. My recommendation: stay somewhere else.
This location could not be better for seeing the historic centre of Dresden, A first class choice all round, very spacious room, very clean and comfortable. We did not take breakfast, preferring to get it out in the square in the sunshine.
We stayed in the Vienna House for 5 nights and found it very comfortable and relaxing. Staff were relaxed and accommodating and the breakfast was excellent - great choice, quality, freshness and lovely service. Would heartily recommend this hotel when planning to visit this wonderful, interesting city.
This hotel is very nice. Beautiful room with A/C and WiFi. The bathroom has a nice bathtub. Very good breakfast by German standards. Lots of nice restaurants nearby.
Very helpful staff. Had a very pleasant stay so far (3 nights to go...)
My boyfriend & I stayed in the Parvus Suite with windows that opened onto the square below.
The Xmas markets in December are lit up with twinkle/fairy lights and the smells of wine heating with cinnamon wafted in.
It was maybe my favourite hotel of the trip.
The entrance felt very swanky with a batman-like poured concrete cavern for reception in which they give you wonderful tips for touring the city and when you look up you realise every floor in a mezzanine which can look down into reception.
The elevator is glass and so as you can imagine the whole experience from arrival to travelling to the room is wonderful.
It is very hard to do modern yet comforting... this hotel did it. Soft grey furnishings, a well designed bathroom.. fab views, a great amount of space for luggage... newspaper on desk for viewing in the morning in bed...It felt luxurious.
Ps. Dresden was the most romantic German city!
Ps. The breakfast looked INCREDIBLY hip and vibrant.
