Shopper-friendly sleep with an open-kitchen restaurant, tricked-out spa and indoor pool

The Lowdown

The Park Hyatt may be set in a historic former warehouse but the look is less industrial and more refined modern. Honey woods and muted palettes of buttercream, taupe and denim set a warm tone in rooms with Bang & Olufsen TVs and pillowy beds. Marble bathrooms feel spa-like with waterfall showers, Asian-inspired infinity tubs and plush bathrobes. Apples Restaurant, named for its association with Old Land fruit plantation right outside the city, offers guests the open-kitchen experience along with its haute take on regional cuisine. The basement-level Club Olympus Spa comprises a well-stocked fitness center and indoor pool.

In the Area

The Park Hyatt is well located for the two quintessential Hamburg experiences: shopping and exploring the city’s waterways. More than 40 shops fill the Levantehaus development, and the main shopping drag of Moenckebergstrasse, where you’ll find large department stores and designer boutiques, is right around the corner. Also close by is the scenic Alster Lake to the north, while farther southwest lies the impressive warehouse district, which was built on timber on a network of canals easily rivaling Amsterdam and Venice.

Excellent hotel, but check prices online

Me and my family really love this hotel and right now we are staying here for the 5th or 6th time. Also, we have recommended it to friends and family many times:

The reason is that it is just such a wonderful place to stay:

The staff is excellent: Always very friendly and professionel, making you feel at home away from home.

The location is great, everything is within walking distance.

Rooms are big, very clean and well equipped.

Restaurat (Apple) and bar is excellent and breakfast is really outstandig.

Also the spa and gym is extraordinary including a 20 meter indoor pool.

My only reservation is the price-policy: I´m a long time Hyatt-member, but very often you can find offers much chaeper than booking directely from the Hyatt-homepage using your own membership-number: This time we are staying in an apartment with a small kitchen (very nice and convenient with 2 small kids); the same room is offered at half price at secretescapes.com including breakfast (with is €34 pr. person!), so that of course is a bit disappointing to find out.

But except from that, it´s the best place in town.

Wonderful hotel

Prime location in Hamburg. Very specious rooms and the most comfortable beds ever. I seldom slept as well in a hotel as I did here. Quiet and still in midst of Hamburg just a few steps away from the main railway station. Staff was very attentive and helpful. Breakfast is on the expensive site but really good.

Shockingly bad service from this usually good hotel

Third time I have stayed at this hotel, great rooms and facilities, room service above average. Service has really let it down this time. Absolutely not what I expected from this global brand.
Checked in at 23:00 after a long and delayed journey and a couple of hours rest before having to leave again for walk inexperienced member of staff unable to complete the check in process as she was unable to log into the computer. Had to wait ages and prompt her to perhaps ask one of the staff milling in and out of the back office to help her out as her colleague was deep in conversation explaining something on a map to another guest. There were 2 staff on with 4 guests waiting behind me in the queue.
My office had contacted the hotel and given company credit card to cover incidentals, for some reason I was told the card was declined. Checked the account and more than ample funds. Due to time constraints just used my personal card.
Came to the room and called guest services to order room service. Line rang out twice and phone was picked up and hung up. Went straight down to reception to ask the same gentleman who checked us in where the phone line rang to and he answered at reception. I asked if it was company policy to hang up on a call from a guest to which he flippantly replied “well perhaps I was checking in a lot of guests”
There was no one at the desk. I suggested that it would have been more polite to perhaps pick up and say “please hold the line” instead of hanging up and all I got was a shrug of shoulders and a combative and attitude laden reply.
Not the service I expect from Park Hyatt hotels and I have stayed at many around the globe. Won’t be staying here again based on this very negative experience. Very disappointed.

This is without one of the best hotels in Hamburg. Perfectly located in the middle of Hamburg and a very friendly staff. Good spacy and quiet rooms. Breakfast is of a very good quality. Hotel does not have own garage but a vallet service

Great location, very comfortable rooms

Situated in the heart of the city at 5 minutes from the train station, this hotel is in a perfect location. You step out and there is shopping, restaurants, the lake and Rathaus at a10 minutes walk. The reception was professional and courteous. Our room was modern, the bathroom very spacious with all the amenities and then some. There was two pocket doors making it more private, a large wardrobe and our view was in the courtyard. We did not have breakfast there (too expensive) but we found two coffee shops in the adjoining shopping area, for full breakfast, one was called Bar Levante. We had dinner one night at the hotel, good but also very expensive.
We had a little mishap: my husband lost his wallet and it was found by a good samaritain, the hotel staff gave him the instructions to send it by taxi, and they phoned the room many, many times until we arrived, to tell us the good news, before we started to call the credit card company. To us, this service was a godsend and we were very grateful.
The pool and spas were beautiful, but we did not bring our bathing suits, well maybe next time. Also, unfortunately, they do not have airport transportation, as advertised.
